I was lucky enough to see EVH live. If you play guitar and want a chance to create rhythm and riffs like EVH... watch this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKOxdYOngdiCq8ksi=pvc3TInP-yMUwapm The "key" is intervals. I think the video shows enough that you'll go ... holy smokes... I see how he did it. Of course, EVH, was in time perfectly, and could stretch his fingers a mile, and... and... But... that video shows how he created riffs and melodies that seemed to come from nowhere. Even those of us that aren't so gifted can hit another level.
good lord, man. i was at Live without a Net, Monsters of Rock, front row in Richmond, VA, saw the Balance Tour when Ed was sober (best performance ever) you have no idea what you missed. his life performance is like youtube x 10000

I saw them live. First time i couldn't hear anything for 3 days after. In the early 80's there weren't really any rules about how loud the band could play. and I mean that as high praise. It melted my face off. I was 15. I just sat there stunned. You have to remember that back then there were no videos or glimpses of what a live show was like. bootlegs were extremely rare. just some pictures sometimes and 6 albums. So I had this thrown at me all at once. Was really in just shock. jaw dropped. Then I saw them again in 88. By then concerts had started to be a bit less wild, but man...

Eddie Van Halen was like a decade after Hendrix. Hendrix influenced everybody.
@mikegoldstein12462 жыл бұрын
Edward's skill level was on another dimension than Jimi's. I've heard so much Hendrix playing and live stuff. It's not even in the same galaxy as Ed's. You can hear Eddie play with feel and taste but his skill and creativity was mind numbing. The most devastating attack on those strings. Sorry..love Hendrix and yes he inspired so many but Ed's playing is literally light years ahead kf Jimi. Eddie came out a decade later but his skill level was about 50 years ahead of Jimi's.

Agree totally. I think it's automatic for people to just say Hendrix because he was the first real ground breaker. Which was awesome. But all you have to do is listen to them both play live. It's just not even close. If you took 1000 people and they didn't know who each of those guys are and let them listen to them play live, all 1000 would say that Edward is a better guitar player...it's that obvious
