The Honorable Chris Van Hollen: My husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. He has been on a trial medication infusion for his illness that will keep the Alzheimer's at bay. Profound words and thank you, but hearing stronger words would be appreciated. I have very serious concerns about the recent actions of the new administration. Actions that seem like, are like, a hostile take over of our government. The WAPO headline "Musk aids gain access to sensitive Treasury Dept. payment system that controls $6 trillion per year" is terrifying. Response to this action needs to be voiced strongly. There was a woman that accepted a position that asked for an extension to her start date due to her relocation from another state before the freeze was enacted. What they also don’t share is that any job offers that had not started yet would be rescinded. This woman had resigned from her previous job, arranged for school changes for her children, and sold her home in preparation to move across state lines for a job that offer that suddenly no longer exists. This is a sad game that won’t end well

Senator, in the few times I've had a chance to discuss items with you, these points stick in my mind: first, you have always been completely informed on the issues we discussed; next, you listened to and evaluated points with which you may have disagreed; and finally, you were willing to adopt other persons' ideas when they improved on your approches to solve problems. Listening to this, I see all of those in action. Unfortunately, those people whose positions you criticize did not do any of those things I commented on your doing. The President's actions were not based on fact - he and his subordinates are acting on his opinions, which do not coincide with objective reality. They ignored anything that disagreed with the president's preconceived (IOW, his literally prejudiced) positions, and finally, they demonstrate immeasurable hubris, assuming they know better than all others on the issues at hand.
