On a manual vehicle if you have a rattle/vibration on tick over that goes when you depress the clutch it’s probably your dual mass flywheel (they don’t last forever) this is quite common and it is well worth replacing the DMF if your having a new clutch fitted as it requires almost no extra labour.

Yes indeed. Ours has a DSG of course. At least we should be good for the next few years 🤞🏻🚐💨👍🏻

Sadly it seems to be a reoccurring issue with mainstream VW garages, can’t book you in for weeks, charge an absolute fortune and don’t always get the fix right first time. Great you had a really positive experience with the other garage you used, you should name them for them to benefit from others giving them business. Looking forward to your next trip 😊

Thanks Gillian. We mentioned them on Insta but forgot to on KZbin 🙄

This is the difference between a mechanic and a technician. When these guys retire and we are at the mercy of a diagnosis machine wielding tech we are buggered

Unfortunately I think you are right. People replacing instead of repairing is not good for the wallet or the environment.

Glad to hear Spirit is back up and running. Im currently refreshing all the suspension on Caspian my T32 4motion camper amongst other bits. I am keen to find out from others though when and what a regen cycle looks like/feels like? I tend to get slight vibration at 75-80mph, feels like a generator kicking in? Ive just assumed this was a regen cycle? Anyone thoughts?

Try taking it out of gear at that speed,maybe downhill so as to maintain that speed that will tell you if it is driveline related or engine related (as the engine will be ticking over) it could well be as above prop shaft centre bearing or a constant velocity joint on the shaft or possibly a front cv joint. The prop shaft has to be balanced and usually has one or more weights welded to it these can become detached with age/miles. Hope it’s nothing too drastic. 👍🏻🇬🇧

One day I'll tell you the story about the rear wheel coming off my Fiat Ducato 5 miles from the Fiat Professional dealership where I had the brakes checked over!. I have now found a small local garage the works on commercial vehicles and they are going to do to my next service before going back to Norway in June.
@spirit5_of_adventure8 ай бұрын
We’ll look forward to that. We too now have a local garage where we can speak directly to the mechanics. It’s so much better. I bet you can’t wait until June. Safe travels 🙏🏻

The average service of Volkswagen. Drive company Volkswagen's for 10 years and the only I learned is that I would never buy a VW myself, horrible service (Netherlands)

Unfortunately you are right. Although our van hasn’t given us a minutes trouble since we got it, it’s just unfortunate it was all found all at once and not by VW.

Shame on you VW. We've had similar problems 😊

It’s not good is it, especially the amount we have to pay them.
