Amazing , glad it was an easy fix! When i swapped the gearbox oil out recently i made a tool out off a bolt with 17mm head and a couple of nuts becuase I did not have such a big insex. Btw ive seen people use a bike inner tube for that missing boot :D Keep on truckin!

This seems to have just jumped into my feed! I know it was done ages ago, but did you sort the front selector box? On a Syncro there’s definitely a second guide as you suspected and you are missing the nylon selector tips. How did the mag plug look when you drained the oil? It’s worth adding molyslip to your next gearbox oil change.

Yeah all sorted. Checked another 82 van and they have the same selector box. Mag plug was all clean apart from the odd hair of metal but nothing major👍

Nice Repair! i have a 82 diesel. with the 5.86 gear ratio DZ gearbox. i dont have the bracket on the left side of the shifter box under the shifter.

Loving the videos, and what a coincidence that I am about to tackle the same issue! I bought a Big Shot Shifter, but am about to replace the gearbox end linkage to make it 100%. And FYI, my gearstick box only has the reverse bracket like yours, not the left side like newer models.

Great video, I think I’ve a linkage issue. It’s not possible to shift from 5th to 4th gear. It’s been like this for a year or so. It doesn’t really impact me but I might try to get it fixed. Tks

Thanks Karl. Ours was badly worn. During our trip around Europe our gearstick felt really wobbly. The difference is huge. Definitely worth the upgrade
