Thanks for the video / hack. On my 2019 the heater will activate at 39f or colder. Even with the hack though, it will take much more electrical “ work around” /hack to make the heater function while camped, and in that case it should definitely run on an independent “house” battery system to avoid depleting the starter battery.

Thanks - so I am confused on how the wabatso heater works - from what I can tell it heats water and runs into the current cooling system and then pre heats coolant and also assists in cab heater for passenger vans that have rear compartment heater at very back of cab and further back on Drivers side - So hydronic heater that uses the coolant and heating system. I have on and the aux heater button but manual is very confusing - does engine need to be running for it to work - older models have timer that can be set but VS30 models do not seem to have that option. So I have same problem you do live in Florida and not cold enough to work - but can you explain how it works cab please and what it does- thanks

James this mb heater was a pain in the neck!!! I always got a different result as the vehicle is always getting updated. I sold the vehicle about a year ago and even mbz didn’t know to make the heater work ( I had made it stock before I sold it)

The point of the heater is run to warm the vehicle without the engine being on. Very popular in Germany but not support in the states. I checked owners manual for any helpful info and it was vague at best. I’m sorry I don’t have a better answer for you.

I never ram it over an hour. I honestly can’t tell you, the heater is meant run for as long as needed it’s just the stupid mercedes Benz system that limit the full use of the heater.

I use it to heat the cabin while the main engine is off but honestly it’s a great heater but the limitations that Mercedes has incorporated are too much.

Dont do this! the webasto is designed not to run at certain ambient temps, why do you think its setup like it is. if the ambient temp is too high you could actually do damage to the unit! i think you read the manual and took it a bit literaly! if it was so important there would have been an option to do it.

It's setup that way because of the epa. There is a not great explanation of this in the owner's manual. Fyi not even the service technician at Mercedes are able to provide good guidance. Thank you for your feedback and trust me on this one at 29 f or colder is the only way this heater will turn on, so how would you check it monthly? It needs to be run!

Who is going to be running the heater at high ambient temps? Not likely except to test.

Yeah this temperature requirement on the heater is really a poor decision limitation. I ended up selling the van and removed the heater hack before I listed and the new owner also froze to death because he could turn on the heater without the hack.

@@gman1003 yes... to test it but also to provide heat... when I'm trying to sleep in 34F temps I don't consider this to be "high ambient temp" yet my aux heater will not turn on. Never would have paid extra for the POS if I knew it was integrated so poorly. Dealers have been ABSOLUTELY USELESS in providing aid.
