Our van life adventures continue in Granada Province, Andalucia exploring this beautiful region. We are heading for Sierra Navada national park but as always things don't go to plan as we are hit by another heat wave where the van and us get way to hot to make it up the mountain.. Hi guys, when Vinny starts to overheat turn the cabin heater on max heat. You will suffer but Vinny will cool down very quickly. Just as a true horseman looks after his trusty steed 1st, then himself you will have to do the same with Vinny who is a "pensioner"

Great suggestion. I’ve used this little trick in summer jams a few times when the rad fan sensor failed. You do toast but as the OP said it keeps your van at a safe operating temp. I was also thinking you could look at fitting an extra cooling fan that you could switch manually for extreme weather conditions. Does Vinny have an oil cooler by any chance? That would be a big help in Spain.

So interesting experiencing parts of the world (I most probably would not see), through Expawers eyes. The effect of the hot weather, too early in the season, how that affects the landscape and its impact on their travels, how that is expressed by the dogs, just being too hot to play and just wanting a cool shady spot to hide in. Great video as always. We feel for you with the lakes and parking up, we've drove around most of them you went to, so annoying when you can't get nearvyo the water, we've often said if they were in the UK they would have all sorts around them, but the downside would be you would have to pay! Negratin has lots of places to park Vinnie hope you enjoy it, Freila near lake is interesting for cave houses. If you head to Baza ...good for your favourite supermarket 😁 then head towards Seron...above Seron are the observatories around 2400mt, just south of Seron look for Cela (Tijola turn off) they have a natural spring pool that's great to swim in, you can park at the side and never busy, a couple of restaurants at side too. If you head to coast from there it will be much cooler, Mojacar nice resort but a bit funny about parking motor home, up coast is Vilaricos, from there up the coast are loads of great places to park by the sea and popular with campers, all free too, some nice little coves and beaches with nothing or little there...

Wow! The meadow with the horses and poppies was beautiful! Had to laugh then Nick was cleaning the window. We just completed about a month on the road, and I was posting a lot of pictures on Facebook. One day I was just taking pictures from the truck when we were driving, and someone commented on the “orbs” in my pictures; they couldn’t figure out what they were seeing. Well, that would be all the mucky bugs that I hadn’t cleaned off the window! 🤣🤣🤣

Beautiful scenery!! I have been to Lago del Negretin a couple of times. I believe there’s a village under the water, from when the dam was built and the land flooded. Shame to see the campsite and the bar closed up !!! It all used to be a very popular spot down there. Loving your shot of those horses in that field !!! Just wow !!!!🤩

Small vans are great in our view, we wouldn't swap our short weelbase Transit for anything bigger as we can go anywhere a car can go and can park in most car park spaces that a car fits in, the only problem is if there's a height barrier but that's a problem on most vans unless they have a very low profile pop-top. Aaaawwww embalsse de negratin is really near us. The deserted half built houses were stopped as apparently the land was not registered correctly (some had moved in!) And the restaurant used to be a firm favourite and only shut down a few months ago as they were retiring and noone has taken it over as the rent too high! There's a lovely one on the other side of the lake tho! Hope you make it to embalsse de bolero- even nearer us and idyllic! Enjoy!

if a hot drink cools you down, why do we drink hot drinks in the winter to warm us up??? Just a thought...lol...if I have a hot drink my body warms up, something I can't do in the summer time, that's for sure...lol! if you want to cool down, do what the dogs do, use something cool on your wrists, dogs stand in water.

How bizarre, it wasn't long ago that you had issues in our local town of Ashford, Kent when finding fuel was an issue, and then Julia recognised the abandoned builds on your way to Embalse de Negratin... We went there a short while ago for a few nights. It was all quiet then, so have a great time. We are heading back down next week for a few months, so may see you on the road!!
