Australia is still very clean, we do have people who are paid to clean the streets and so on. All the Aussies I know hate litter, but of course there are the ones who are selfish. And yes it has changed since 20 years ago, still beautiful and so on. But you would notice how much more busy it is. We have had a lot of people move here.

I only bought one tent ever to camp in Canada. My friends and I painted the outside with queer and women's symbols. It was definitely the most colourful tent I've ever seen and it made a BIG statement!!

Just back from Tasmania for the 2nd time and when you go to Oz make sure you go there. Think you'd love it, much quieter, greener and the most amazing hikes and wildlife on tap. Very clean, no litter 😉

We had a CO monitor and a propane/ethane gas detector in our vehicle and it quite working. We learned that they can stop working once they reach freezing temperatures. So now we bring them inside when we are not traveling in the winter or spend a night away from the vehicle.

Apologies totally missed this video!! Yes, Australia would have changed a lot since you were here Lou! They call it progress for tourism, and heaps of places have become cesspits!! If you can avoid the "terrorist season", try coming to WA and having a look at the Kimberly region (avoid the glitzy crap), as well as the Bibbulum Trek in the Southwest, guarantee both of you will enjoy!!!

My ideal vehicle would be a unimog conversion with a hatch through to the the cab but finances are a bit tight so for the meantime I’ll have to make do with my discovery 3 and an awning on the back so I can stand up and cook and also for the other obvious reasons.

Just caught up, thank you thank you, it was so great I had an eye procedure yesterday so it was great to have a long chat I could semi watch, wholly listen to! Yes please to a meet up hope it happens! Don't joke about chains on feet, the grippers you can get with coils of wire underneath (look a bit like mini chains 😉) are fantastic, used them in the Alps a lot & here a couple of weeks ago they really stop you slipping. I agree about bikes & dogs, I carry one but senior dog won't have anything to do with it, junior dog is smaller & so lazy (unless there's a biscuit in sight definitely team Emily) he will probably ride in a carrier once we're a one dog van, hopefully not just yet though. I went to Anglesey in July this year. Absolutely NOWHERE to wild park. Unbelievably hard. I ended up driving around Anglesey all day and then coming back over to mainland. Sad really as it is a stunning place, most beautiful place Ive seen so far I think x

Hi, here's a fun fact re: driving on the other side of the road. It is actually a thing that it is easier to switch to a new side, than to switch back to the usual one. Works with languages also. Apparently, the brain has to work to block out the "normal" function (i.e. which side of the road you drive on, or what language you normally speak) and once it is blocked it takes longer to unblock and switch back. They have actually done experiments on this and it is very clear. Our "normal" is to drive on the right side of the road and when we come to the UK, it is no problem to switch. However, when we get off the ferry going back to France... it's another story! 😳🤣
