Can't beat the mk5 transit mate mine 1997 failed mot this year on little bit of welding but got the bulket proif banana engine . Im in progress of refitting all the panels at front rather than weld plates everything else solid and runs like a dream with only 87 thou on clock.if your near carlise would appreciate some tips or help tc mate from a transit to a transit owner

exactly what i have been saying for years about electrics on engines, and i've spent a lifetime working on them! Still dont like how fast sprinters rot. gasless mig, the wire quality makes all the difference, dont buy any of it in halfords lol

I have a 2005 Dodge Mercedes sprinter ... from the time of the North American auto crash and Mercedes partnered with Dodge. It is actually a RoadTrek camper, which I bought second hand. The engine is diesel, and after I sorted out some of the problems related to the turbo resonator and a few other things, it has been very reliable, and it gets great mileage ... 27-29 Mpg. But in my opinion, that sprinter configuration is just too cramped for two people and two dogs. I have just recently bought a unit which is on a Ford Transit 350 cutaway with a diesel engine ... basically I had an all aluminum box built for it, with good insulation all around. I am fitting it out myself. Turns out there are more Ford dealers in Canada than there are Mercedes dealers in all of North America. So if I do need some work done, I should be able to find folks to work on it. A friend has said she wants to buy the sprinter, now that I have sorted out its problems. So, all is good. Best of luck on the re-do of the Transit. I am anxious to see how you make out. Cheers .... Charles

Hi m8 I still don't understand how you can go back to a old tractor transit slow noisy , transit cheap to work on but so is old sprinter I love it ,anyway don't matter as long as you got something you can keep running and enjoy a mark one transit will cost bit in good nick keep up good vlog and hope to see more of them be lucky Rigsby.

The sprinter has probably done a shit load of miles and has it been maintained correctly before you owned I doubt it as the Black Death was probably there when you brought it.good luck on the transit

i saw this comming and im glad your going back to the transit im just sorry youve lost out money and effort. modern engines are shit, period. a mk3/4/5 transit are the best iconic vans in automotive history. They may be old now but theyre stll the best, period.
