You can totally customize an RV and put your water inside but it requires stripping it out. Personally I want to get a really old camper and redo it into a tiny home.

Really interesting video! Would love to see a comparison on expenses: trainer life vs. apartment life - like the "what I spend in a week" but comparing the two - would be interesting.
@brockjohnson35752 жыл бұрын
Of course, I don’t know exactly because we don’t own a van, but I would imagine that the weekly expenses are very similar. Gas, food, water, and places to stay would all be almost the exact same.

Great video! I just signed the paperwork on a Basecamp 16X today! (Towing w/ my 4Runner!) and will be living in it full-time within a couple months. I was going through the van vs. Basecamp thing myself for quite a while. The two things that really pushed me to get the Basecamp were more space (able to keep bikes in the 4Runner w/out impacting living space), and the ability to detach and drive the 4Runner separately. Maybe I'll run into you out there!

That's awesome, Greg, and congrats! We totally agree on those two points for getting the basecamp. If you see us, say hi! Thank you so much for watching and enjoy it!

If you run into them only run into their car or trailer, not both so that they always have the other one! 😉

If you aren’t charging while towing you need to set up for dc/dc charging. Easiest way to keep charged.

One big problem with van is a driving, you are driving some commercial vehicle which feels like a tractor, people who likes cars will understand.

I'm all van. And not an extended van either. Fit in any parking spot. Drive daily. Drive anywhere. Drive in the city. No need for a toad. It comes with compromises. You won't have your whole family in it. Not meant for full timing. But for 1 or 2 people, it is all you need. Anything bigger is if you only go to camp grounds/RV parks. And that is like living in a trailer park.

Thank you I’m trying to decide and that’s kinda what I was thinking do I really want to be limited to campgrounds. U think I can do 3 people in a van part time

You tow with a 4 runner……All I hear from Facebook is you should not tow with anything less than a truck……How does it tow/setup
@brockjohnson35752 жыл бұрын
It does pretty well! It’s definitely right at capacity, but we towed the with the 4runner through plenty of mount passes and snowy drives and it did really well! We have recently added airbags to the rear suspension to help with the sag

It's a basecamp, you could tow it with a Honda civic...

Love the video but you guys completed excluded people who build their own trailers from scratch. Some of the pros and cons aren’t true in those cases.
