Since the film "Snatch" is one of my all-time favorites, I can see a resemblance between you and Turkish. 🙂 You even sound like Jason Stratham. And too, ironically, the theme is all about Tommy getting a caravan from some Gypsies. I am a Gypsy descendant myself. So I'm wired for itinerancy. My family came to the US from Wales. I watch a lot of vanlifers for hacks as I live off grid. The way he’s doing it is professional and his van will be around for many years. Not just throwing a bunch of blankets and a mattress in it. Hey Will, glad to see that leak sorted. You might want to keep some of that insulating material for later when you make magnetic window blinds. Darkness and Insulation in one. (although not sure how safe that plastic-fiber material is). Also, I have not seen a single van insulating over those metal beams. Surely, it's metal and thereby a good conductor of heat. Surely, a layer of thin insulating material over it is not going to reduce the ceiling height much --just few millimetres perhaps.

Great work!! If it helps, in the cross member above the door, you could open up one of those holes at one end, thread some string through to the other end and pull a strip of insulation through. Also the insulation will work slightly less effectively the more you compact / compress it. The air holes (fluffiness) in it's purchased state are part of it's effectiveness... resist the urge to compact it / stuff it in. Really enjoying your channel and journey sir :)

maybe do the spray foam in a can, it has a nozzle that can go into the small holes and fill it up.
@joshmcdonald73243 жыл бұрын
Use expanding foam for your little holes instead of the insulation.
@jayollie35043 жыл бұрын
You should have used “expanding spray foam” for the insulation on the upper insides of the roof, fills in every void and would expand out of the holes and then you just easily cut the excess

I think you should tell us your plans of how you're gonna do things a week before you do them so you can get tips from the comments, as it stands now, the tips are always too late because we see you doing a job, after it's already done, lol. I'm not experienced in this, but I would have said, not to try and pack soo much wool in the cavities, as trapped air is where the insulation is, if you pack the wool too tight, there will be not much air and heat will pass straight through it maybe..
@giterdone90133 жыл бұрын
I’ve seen some vanlifers going by comments for their builds and it usually ends up a shit show. Leave it to the pros that you know are pros unless you’re pretty adept at that stuff anyways.
