It's been just over 9 months since we bought our Autotrail F60 - 6 metre long motorhome. Since then we've decided what we like and what we dont like. In this video we wanted to share our thoughts and why we have decided to sell up.
We really appreciate your thoughts and comments so please let us know what you think of the video and if there are any points we have missed.

Standard hack with the F Line's is to rotate the kitchen tap 45 degrees so the lever faces the wall. With the dropdown, after lowering & raising ALWAYS turn the power off to the bed. For me the tricky swivel cab seats is worth the aggro in order to have the vastly superior Ford. BBQ point, dropdown bed & travel seats are all customer cost options, they're not standard. Hack #2 drill a finger width hole through the bench seat access covers. Great idea for valuables! Windows, nope, as a layman tried & tried to access through the rubber with no success. A professional thief can get around all poly windows. The AT has the mid range 'Trend' spec dashboard, again this is part of the cost option 'Drivers Pack' Ford Pass Pro app. Great review guys! The best way to learn about motorhomes are from real people not a dealers spiel, people who have used them. There is always a conversion that suits somebody but with time and experience comes the knowledge and always keep records of issues. My good lady watches a couple who regularly vlog but they drive me to despair as they always openly in front of the camera do as little as they can to maintain a standard for their unit and boy will they have a shock when they come to sell the van. A motorhome is not just about being in the owners club but you need to maintain the vehicle to a standard for your standards and safety and the safety of other road users. With twenty plus years I have I feel enough experience to talk about what I have found down the years but also talking to some many many great friends who have shared their experiences down the years so I feel I have a valid point to share. Some good questions have been asked in recent times by some respected vloggers like Bob Earnshaw and Gadget John so even though I have no interest in vlogging I will raise a question of my own. I gave a motorhome on a dealers pitch a once over thirteen months ago, Brand new delivery miles a nice looking van cancelled customer order ready to go thinking for a friend. When I came home from Valencia a few weeks ago I noticed the van still there but they now want 13,000 pounds more for it, Have I missed something here. Did you meet many other people who have the larger motorhomes who tow a small car on a Car Towing Dolly, So they could leave the motor home on site during the day & just do a bit of local exploring Pop ta shops or go and get some supplies from the supermarket just saves packing every thing up then the reverse when your back on site what will be your next Motorhome model???? 🙂

We had a Chausson with the same layout, and like yourselves got fed up with having no lounging area when the bed was down. Also the swivelling ford chairs are a right faff compared to the fiat ones. We now have an Adria Compact with fixed rear bed which gives plenty of room for a garage below in which I can fit both our folding bikes. Love it. Looking forward to seeing your new van!

Thanks for the info. about the Ford App. Our motorhome is on the Transit and as I know about the self-locking, I have always been obsessive about having the keys in my pocket whenever I leave it. I've now installed the app and as you said, I can lock and unlock the vehicle remotely. Now I just have to be sure that I have my phone with me whenever I go out of the door!

Hi folks, really enjoyed the tour of your van. We have an Autotrail Imala 615…..it’s just coming up for the first service/hab check next weekend, we love it. We don’t have an external garage, but our last motorhome didn’t either, so I guess what you’ve never had…..😊 The lockers are huge, so we never manage to fill them all. @@littlebigvanadventures we do have a microwave. Reading some comments…….I guess no van has everything & no manufacturer is perfect….. We haven’t had any issues with our new Autotrail. My sister bought a brand new van (which wasn’t an Autotrail) & had no end of trouble before she cut her losses & traded it in. We have the F62 and have moved the bed stop down as you have and a cheap folding step to get on and off the bed, the difference is the kitchen location and bathroom are switched around, we are in the process of trying to fit all the stuff we had in our Auto Sleeper but we find there is a distinct lack of storage compared to our old six meter motorhome so a big sort out is needed . We have got some child bumpers to fit onto that bed piece which we have both managed to bang our heads on just to lessen the impact

I’ve just bought this Auto Trail F60 automatic, get it in a few weeks. I’m not having the drop-down bed as I don’t like or need it. Thanks for the tips, there going to come very useful. I have window locks to prevent people opening the windows.

We are caravaners but our best friends have the F60 and it’s a great van. Your vlogs are great, really enjoy watching them. We have all been caravanning and motorhoming for 41 years since we were 20 years old and run rallies for many years and worry greatly about drones over and on sites, I would never allow balls, kites and that sort of thing on the rallies I run. I hope you keep vlogging, really good. Best wishes

@@littlebigvanadventures I have sent the vlog to them and I’m sure they will subscribe. Your review was spot on especially about the water tap and shower. They have had a few problems with the water system and I have fixed a few issues for them. We changed the shower head to a “Camel” with a switch on the head itself which stops the drips. Your videos and approach are really great and we hope you do more, really entertaining. Have a great time and keep up the fab work.

Very fair and thorough video👍🏽. I was put off Autotrail because of the reputation and persuaded husband for us to get a Burstner Eliseo. That went after 3 months of headache! We now are waiting for a UK built van conversion. As people say ‘there is always compromise’!!! Excited to see what you have next🙂 ATB Ruth

@@littlebigvanadventures Hi, I think we were particularly unlucky more than anything! The dealer admitted he had ordered too many vans to cope with. We were new to van ownership and had a 3 min video handover because we had asked for the van to be delivered. The manual from Burstner was rubbish which didn’t help. The problem with these German vans is getting things fixed and the time to get things from the factory under the warranty. I could list the issues but I won’t bore you. Ideally buy close to home and even if you don’t need to put a small amount on finance if available because it gives you more protection as a consumer. We rejected the van sadly and got our money back plus interest! The dealer sold the van again about 3 months later for £6k more. We haven’t taken our own advice second time around, so god help us and we will keep our fingers crossed😀. Good luck to you both

Just watched your M/H review, so indepth we have a 6m MH and are looking to upgrade to either a drop down/fixed bed one day. My main concern is the Ford chassis can be restrictive for towing? But great video and will watch some more. All the best, Gary and Julie.

Best motorhome appraisal I have ever seen. Tru warts and all. Helpful to find out the pitfalls before purchasing. I think a continental style van with high rear bed and massive storage below is what I'd go for. Would like a Bürstner 7.5m. Subscribed!!

Terrific honest review. It is a minefield in regards of choosing the best option ( motorhome that suits) for your needs. We have a Fiat ducato based motorhome 6.99 m long with fixed single ( super comfortable) beds and it has a massive garage underneath but the half dinette is a bit limited in space, so there will always be compromises on choice of layout.

Great review. First time we've seen a review with the bed all the way down. The F60 was our van of choice for a while but we've now ordered an Elddis CV20. Although we liked the idea of the F60 drop down bed, we were concerned that it wouldn't drop down far enough to easily get in and out. Also, like you pointed out, it compromises the living area if one of you wants to lie down. I do love the kitchen and washroom though ! Look forward to seeing your new van.

Your review is a massive help in making a choice of vehicle. I'd prefer the continental style with rear raised bed(s) garage under separate toilet and shower galley then lounge. Transit chassis looks more stylish than Fiat/Peugeot. 7.5m long would do it.

The Drop down beds have been known to acturly drop down on their own when going over very bumpy roads.

A good review that. I was thinking of one of those F60/62 but after seeing this I'm not so sure now. You point out some issues of actually living with such a van such as the drop down bed. I think I'll look for something with a fixed bed now, maybe a Chausson 514. So what did you trade up to?

Yes over here in New Zealand all the Ford Transit models are well known for expensive engine problems,as nice as they are its unfortunite that Ford has engine & Tranmission problems compared with other makes of motorhomes/campervans.

HI, we love watching your videos, especially because we have just purchased the same motor home. We are so excited to get it, hopefully within the next couple of weeks. One thing we are aware of is that the garage is quite small. We have bought almost everything we need with that in mind so the only thing left to buy are camping chairs. We like the ones you have and was wondering if you would mind telling us which ones you have. It's great that one of them will fit in the boot. We have been everywhere, tape measure at the ready trying to find at least one chair that will fit in the boot but everyone so far has been to big. Would really appreciate your help with this. I am not here to be negative to any brand but from a 27 year veteran of motorcaravan ownership the last motorhome builder I would turn to would be Autotrail or as we now call them Autofail. Such poor build qaulity is the start. But they are affordable and from our and many friends experience spend a little more on a Burstner or a Dethleffs for a better build quality and layout. We own another brand currently so are not brand snobs and another thing is avoid long term Ducato ownership for failing gearboxes and clutches. Great tour you lovely people and an honest and fair review.

@@littlebigvanadventures Do not get me wrong there is good and bad in all but in a rule of percentages we found through experience to look elsewhere. When you pay a lot of money as modern motorhomes are you would hope for an enjoyable adventure and as you have shown when the little niggles start to add up it starts to became a what next scenario as you expect something else. We learnt from experience and as you are a lovely couple don.'t let it get you down as your review seemed very fair and I would love to see you enjoying yourself for a long time.

Excellent Review. As the Autotrail F60 takes 2 x 6kg Calor bottles of gas (which is a bummer)I noticed that you changed the gas system over to the Gaslow refillable gas system, which I may get fitted on my F60 Motorhome, what I would like to know is what size of refillable bottle was installed on your motorhome. Was it the 6kg or 11kg size?

Hi great review guys, I was wondering if you traded the van in as mentioned and what you ended up getting? We are currently thinking of trading in our merc sprinter van conversion for something with a bit more sociable space. We need to stay under 6m though as we live on an island and the ferry prices above that are nearly doubled! Keep up the good work with your posts.

Hi Phil, Glad your enjoying the vlogs. Yes we did trade the van in and we decided on a slightly longer 7m Lyseo Harmony 690G Burstner. We love it although we do miss the shorter length of the F60 but theres pros and cons for each. We bought a F60 last month. Today I dropped the bed and when putting it back up I must have kept my finger on the button too long and it now won't work. That's how I found your vlog. We did try pushing the button in on the fuse but to no avail. We are going to call the dealership tomorrow. However I'm really interested in that table you work at. Also the boxes you have in the garage and that wee storage box you have sitting on the shelf which also hangs. Would you be able to tell me where you purchased all these items. Thank you. Congratulations on your F60. There are many aspects of that van we really miss! Including the kitchen (bin placement) and lovely open living space. So enjoy. I'll try to answer your questions. To get the table we bought the Lagun mechanism from ebay, and then we bought a tabletop seperately from ebay and fixed it to it. It was brilliant. we're using it in our new van. The plastice boxes from the garage are "Really useful" boxes. That's the breand. Highly recommend. The fabric storage boxes (like the one that sat under the sofa (in the fot space meant for a rear passenger, was just a foldable collapsible pop up type box we got from Aldi. It ws so usueful for shoes and doggy stuff. We miss that space too. The covers we covered the seats with were just teddy bear covers from dunelm. One big one would cover the top cushion and also the bottom cushion and we' just tuck it in everywhere. Really protective and simple. Did you get the bed sorted??

Regarding the bed , my husband had to change the fuse on top of the leisure battery and it's all working again. However your video helped us. Final question - what size of table top did you go for? Couldn't you move the milk, boots etc from the left front storage locker, put them in the garage and then put 2 deckchairs/loungers in the front storage locker? Looks big enough.

Morning! We didn't find it big enough for our Dunelm chairs, but I know you can get chairs with a smaller profile only 9 or 10cm thick. Just overall there wasn't enough storage for us, but we still really miss parts of the f60. Rebekah would swap to an f70. That's basically the f60 but with twin beds on the back over a good garage. It's 7m 30cm long though which put us off. The f60 was so easy and practical to live in and get changed in and cook in. Actually easier than the one we have now. Although we love the storage and beds on the 690g we've got. So it's all a compromise isn't it😁👍

@@littlebigvanadventures The locker looked bigger on my screen (ha ha). See what you mean about the storage overall and the 690G definitely has more space and an excellent bedroom. We've been looking at the Chausson x550 which appears to have more storage than the F60. With a 2 year old labrador a 'high' bed' avoids the 'wet nose in your ear' in the morning and since we got Archie afternoon lie downs are a thing of the past. Enjoyed your review; are you doing one on the 690G? Ah, found it!

@@littlebigvanadventures We swapped the van for a Swift Edge 464, with a fixed bed (lol), Quite happy with it, we do miss the larger fridge/freezer but there always seems to be a comprise. Looking forward to seeing your new van.
