Van vs Truck for Lawn Care Business

I went against the grain and decided to purchase a van for my lawn care business instead of getting a pick up truck. A van offers lots of benefits to a lawn care business that are often overlooked such as more storage, security, and can save you money on offsite storage if you don't have a house or garage. Additionally, since I am going the eco-friendly direction with my lawn care business by using all electric Greenworks mowing and landscaping equipment, I will need a solution to charge my equipment without using fossil fuels. The large surface area of a van roof gives me more room than any pick up truck to mount my solar panels on. Here in the UK, almost everyone uses vans for gardening. Pickups are unusual.

I have a Nissan NV200, it's a similar size to your van. It's amazing what you can fit in it. Vans are very versatile, even the smaller ones! Mine is only a 1.5L ,so very economic too!

Yes little vans are the best and are very underappreciated. I can fit a lot in there and fit into smaller parking spaces.

How do you like it still now? That is very small but unless you never plan to carry bulk trash, plants and flowers, leaf and grass bags then I would like that too.. I'm thinking of a mid size one to have more room just for that in case.

I still like it so far. Yes its small when I have my equipment in there and then I add leaf bags and landscaping debris I wish I had more room. If there was nothing in the back then I can fill a lot in there.

Hi Oscar, thanks for reaching out. This setup cost me around 22k. Van was about 17k, solar system 1700, van rack 300, green works equipment around 3k (1 trimmer, 1 edger, 1 handheld blower, 1 backpack blower, 1 self propelled mower, 1 push mower, and 6 batteries.
