Looks very like an E NV200 with a blunted nose. Claimed range per kwh is much better tho, despite the obviously inferior aerodynamics. Is that just the E NV being less efficient due to having a car drivetrain (Leaf) or does this thing bring something new?
@vanaramauk4 жыл бұрын
Tom here: It's the whole vehicle working perfectly - it's been designed to be an electric vehicle, so everything from the power train to the alloys used in the platform are specifically made to ensure this vehicle offers as much range/power/charge as possible. And yes, it does look a bit like an ENV200...
@izzabelladogalini Жыл бұрын
First aerodynamics are not as obvious as you seem to think. Secondly and more importantly the NV200 uses old (by EV standards) tech, air cooled battery - so it hangs dangerously low, and poor regen capacity. I've driven both and the Maxus battery and drive tech is way better in terms of performance and efficiency... dont forget the Leaf has been around for over a decade and the eNV uses that tech.

No-one should be quoting NEDC test cycle range figures anymore, it's widely known to be very inacurate, the WLTP range of 150 miles for the big battery is far more like what you will actually see in the summer months.

Tom here: Thanks, glad you enjoyed the review. It was a really interesting review to make - the van has to be judged in 2 lights... as the first ground-up electric LCV and as a commercial vehicle. It does both really well. There are a few question marks - pretty standard when it comes to pre-production models - but a lot of them will be answered in the production models. Looking forward to seeing one in the flesh again soon!

Seriously, if so much is qualified with "this is a pre-production vehicle", how is this useful for propective buyers? this might be fixed, this might be fixed, this might be fixed? designed from the ground up, but havent thought until after the pre production to fit in a euro- pallet? With so many issues at this stage, doors, noise, sound, and if its not reflective of the prodiuction model, who is this review for? Also, electric van, more info on range would be useful,. what is this for?

Tom here: I mentioned in the bits where I talked about it being pre-production that I'd spoken to Maxus about the feature and revealed what they said. Also, it's a review of a pre-production model, there's not much I can do but review it and say "this is pre-production, but I've spoken to Maxus who said...". I make sure to speak about the van in the terms in which it requires - it's new, it's here, it's another step towards the electric future of LCV. I appreciate all your feedback & will look to address some of it in future reviews. Really appreciate your view & support.

A white van that can't load euro pallets? Too narrow between the wheels, and too small sliding door at the side, totally useless. And on top ot that, the bulkhead stealing space from the front pallet, so you cant use the height. Do they suggest that you load empty pallets first, notching them for the wheels, and then put your goods in?
@paulkirby29584 жыл бұрын
I get the bulkhead intrusions issue but you will get a pallet between the arches we are assured. So you should be able to get two in without the bulkhead effecting things
@someoneelse76294 жыл бұрын
@@paulkirby2958 You cant get one in trough the side door (too narrow), and to fit two you need the one in front to be diagonally and the one between the wheel arches to be lengtwise, but you cant get the front one in digonally trough the backdoor without really long forks and lifting over the wheel arches.

HI Graham - Paul here. What we know is that 80% of average mileage is below 80 miles per day so with overnight charging a possibility for many this presents an option for many use cases. I appreciate it may not be right for you. What mileage would you need each day and where can you charge?
@grahaml88384 жыл бұрын
Depends on how you use it, Graham. My van just goes around the local villages, I just need the space and comfort. Those stats are fine for me, but I get what you are saying.
@stuartcraigon20033 жыл бұрын
Half that in the winter and half that again to get back again! You couldn't go anymore than 75 miles away from base AND if you did you'd be hard pushed to find a charger that works.
@stuartcraigon20033 жыл бұрын
The range will not be anything like 200 miles. 100 to 150 maximum. That means a maximum of 75 miles from your depot. No courier has 45 minutes to charge a battery. It will be 20 years before conventional fueled engines are no longer available. The reality of range isn't nearly good enough and the charging infrastructure isn't good enough either.
@vanaramauk3 жыл бұрын
Tom here: Massively generalised statements there. 200 miles often translates closer to 180 (dependent on climate, road, etc). Range is getting better all the time, I think you'll have to wait and see what happens over the next 8 years. Appreciate your comment. :)
@stuartcraigon20033 жыл бұрын
@@vanaramauk in fairness Tom I was a courier doing over 100 deliveries a day, my route took me 25 miles away from the depot before I even got to my first delivery! That's 50 miles of range to get out there and back again with my other deliveries 30 miles out from there plus deliveries to the south on my way back. I'd need a range of 200 miles minimum and I had no time to stop, recharging isn't an option for couriers round here. To give you an idea I'm 80 miles or so north of Edinburgh. Ev vans might be fine in densely populated areas of England but they will have very limited use in the majority 9f Scotland.

Thanks for the video. I saw a more in depth video on youtube which went under the vehicle and looked at the chasis door panels and hinges and the sub floor of the load area and the axles and mounting points. In summary the Maxus deliver 3 looks like hot garbage and made out of thin box section. Real concerns about the quality of this product and the longevity of this vehicle. Its bonnet doesnt even remain attached to the vehicle when opened its a plastic fit panel with no hinges. Its less of a cat amongst the pigeons and more a steaming *urd thrown amongst the pigeons when only looking at the chassis and build quality. Each needs to make there own opinion, search for the other review video and see what I saw.
