I had a Focus MK4 for 3,5 years and since two years I‘m driving a Puma MHEV. I love it BUT… I have enough of this sporty „always ready to jump“ stuff. I drove the Niro and it felt so comfy, relaxing and smooth… I loved it! So the Niro has definitely the chance to become my next car! Great review 👍🏼

I have a 2022 previous version, and although it doesn't look as nice, it is a wonderful car to drive.In actual fact, I prefer the switch gear on mine than I do the new version

What VW did (don’t know if it’s still the case) is make cars that would do that for 30 years. My ‘95 Polo still doesn’t need replacing. We don’t know that of either the Kias or the VWs of today.

Good review but I notice that the car he’s driving has a different gear shifter than whilst driving than is shown in the cabin closeups with a rotary shifter.

About the "Sport" mode - in my MY2020 Niro HEV I feel a big difference between that and the Eco mode. Maybe it's not that pronounced when driving in 5th gear casually at 60-70km/h, or maybe the new version has quieter engine that makes the switch less stand out? In my case switching to "Sport" mode usually jerks the car forward a bit and you can hear the revs go up way more. Feels like I'm shouting to the car "OVERTAKE - NOW!" 😆

@@troecurov3 You can't compare the two. The Sportage is larger and more expensive. Whilst the Niro is smaller, it's still very roomy. Both excellent cars

I tested it. The rear trunk is very small compared to even a smaller Citroen C4 from 2015. I tested also the Hyundai Kona, that's similarly disappointing for this reason. BTW, the infotainment seems exactly the same... Nice cars, and I appreciate the fuel efficiency, and still, the 8 years old Citroen C4 consumes 5.8 l/100km, that's comparable to the real consumption for the Hyundai Kona, while just a little higher than the Kia.

I get more than 5.8 l/100km from my 2020 Niro hev and the new one is said by every reviewer to be better still and you think it has a small boot? Mine doesnt its 436L whereas the C4 from 2015 is only 380L are you sure you looked at a Niro?

@@SidBonkers51 boot volume in the marketing material often includes the hidden compartment, and I've actually seen it, not just mantioned the specs ;) hope you can actually compare the two, the difference is immediately visible

@@SidBonkers51 Addendum: I got 5.8 l/100km from my old Citroen C4 for 100'000 km :) tough in the last 20'000 km it's more like 6.1 l/100km. It's a more compact car, so it weights less, but I remember distinctly buying it 8 years ago also for its autonomy.

VW have lost the plot in terms of styling, I borrowed a friend's T-Cross for a couple of weeks. Completely dull, the only thing that impressed me was the amount of interior space as I'm a lanky 6'6 & sometimes struggle to fit in some vehicles.
