Maybe I'm just a psychopath but I love the feeling of getting the shit jostled out of you on a hard tail. It helps me to understand just how fast I'm actually going and on what kind of terrain, which gives me a little adrenaline rush and adds to the fun I'm having. Hard tails are definitely my favorite lol
@sd5458

It really does. You can't just forget about the back wheel. Line choice is so important and it actually gets to be a challenge to not just send it off everything. Low speeds and technical balance also very important. I have a blast on my hard tail. The only type of bike I've ever ridden.

I rode whistler last week and completely agree. For most of us mere mortals, you'll absolutely want to be on a twin crown at least your first few days at Whistler. My own bike is an Ibis Ripmo and I wouldn't take that bike anywhere near whistler, and it has over 800 park miles from other bike parks on it.
@mrvwbug4423

Also for some of those sections you have to go those speeds. Whistler rocks have very little grip, so you have to go fast down slabs or rock gardens there.

The real beauty of a hardtail is going back uphill. without the weight and squish of rear suspension, climbing is a surprising breeze. Long live hardtail, preferably mullet 29/27.5.

@Ah022
@Ah022 Жыл бұрын
@@baronnashor158 Sure. That’s not my point though. Race pace runs would differ from bike to bike of course. But hard tails are plenty capable to hit pretty much anything with the right rider and line choice along with good parts. That’s my point. That being said I’ll still race my hard tail pretty much anywhere without worry of breaking a wheel.

I sold my fs because I’ve noticed that i was getting a little too confident, not worrying so much about lines and stuff and really just sending it, not having fun anymore on lesser trails. But then i went with a friend for a cross country ride and i was using a focus raven and boy oh boy i sweated my ass off to get down some greens with that thing, bit it put such a smile on my face. Ended up getting a honzo to pedal further and become a better rider, i absolutely love that thing! Im going down everywhere and no trail it’s ever boring!

Hardtails are the best bike to learn and progress as a mountain biker. You learn good body positioning, movement and lines for both tech and jumps. And as someone who can't afford a full suspension, I can confirm they can do black and double back diamonds no problem. You have to take it easier on certain places, but no problem.

I've only ridden hardtails since I started riding about 30 years ago. No parks close to me but we do have good, gnarly bandit trails with drops and jumps. I was worried about breaking the frame on my 19 year old, 26" Giant XTC on the gnar so I bought a real trail bike, a 29" Giant Fathom. This bike is tough, survived some bad crashes with only a few scratches.

Awesome as always! You’re riding abilities are fantastic, don’t sell yourself short! I feel like parks are probably great for hardtails because they’re purpose built for bikes. A lot of what I ride are multi use so lines aren’t a thought, and the full sus bikes can eat that up, but if I’m on my hardtail I’m more likely to get thrown around/die. Keep it up!

Always good to see a half-squish at a bike park. I've shredded half-squishes at both Snowshoe and Bryce, hitting blacks, and was just fine. As long as the HThas some modern geo it'll be just fine. Plus, the props ya get for riding the gnar on an HT is always cool too!
@mrvwbug4423
@mrvwbug4423 Жыл бұрын
Whistler is on a whole different level than Snowshoe or Brian Head. Nick was able to do that because he knows the Whistler trails like the back of his hand so knows pretty much all the lines. Whistler is a place where you really want to be on a DH bike if you're just learning the trails there. Nick only started riding his enduro bike there within the last couple years, prior to that he would always bring his DH bike there. Having ridden Whistler myself just last week, it's very different from most other bike parks, everything is steeper, the hits are bigger and the rocks have very little grip so rock gardens and slab rolls have to be taken a lot faster than you're used to.
