You made that look so easy with the gaskers. I struggled with mine. They didn't want to just go in. I eventually got a race seal and bearing insert kit and that did the trick.

I had a 2001 carbureted 1200 Sportster that I installed these Vance and Hines pipes on and it was too loud for the community that I live in, So I purchased the quiet baffles for them and installed them in the pipes, It did not quiet it down a lot but what a difference in performance once I installed them and it added that needed back pressure the engine required. The engine seemed to have way more torque throughout the whole roll of the throttle. I highly recommend you give it a try! You just might be as surprised as I was!

Have 07 sportster 1200 low with full Vance and Hines short shots with baffles removed and untuned and factory air cleaner. Wife & I will be installing black short shots, air cleaner and tuner. Thanks for the video.

Hi bro, well explain the installation, quick question, I ordered the short shot Vance & Hines, I checked over and over and it seems to be the correct part, but the new seal, and the diameter on to the motor are the same size as the new pipe, the new pipe doesn’t go inside the hole in the sportster, if I tight it up it will be flat, probably leaving a gap for a leak. I’m not sure if it will be push in once I tight it up. I Appreciate you advice. Thank Leo

@@IrishBOBSister Just few hours drive. My first attempt for getting the exhaust from NJ to CA was a failure. UPS damaged it in the transit and declined my claim. Doing 2nd attempt with FedEx this time. If it didn't work I am just gonna drive to one of the neighboring state.. spend a day or two there and get it from there or I just move out of CA. Got pulled over few days back for not having a front licence plate and my Camaro stock exhaust are too loud according to the COP!

Sounds great! Do you know if he is going to use a tuner with them? The bike certainly won't break without it but the factory air lambda values will keep it from running as cool and powerful to take advantage of the new free flowing pipes. 😋

Planning to put these pipes on my 2021 48. Not much of a mechanic myself.. so you're just using a standard socket set? Any other special tools that help? Also, did you tune the bike after the installation?

When I removed the stock bracket that holds the stock exhaust and tightened all the bolts back to place, my bike couldn’t move.. I then loosened the bottom bolt of that cover, and it was able to move again.. but came undone when I was riding, did I switch the bolts around?

Do u apply loctite on all the bolts u put back on? Just got my short shots in along with a new air filter... will try to do it myself and save $680 for labor

great video! so the metal rod between the stock pipes is only bolted to the cylinder heads right? Im going to reinstall my stock ones but i didnt take them off myself. watching your video to go backwards haha. So if im right. install the big plate near the sprocket first. then the rod goes under that and bolt them to the cylinders. and then install both slipons with the bracket to the other bracket, which also gives support to the entire pipe. am i right?

i literally have the same problem haha, its for inspection in my country since short shots high sound is illegal, i have my stock ones but i dont have any bolts to the exhaust system and to the mounting, do i just reuse the ones installed on the short shots brackets and the mufflers? From what I understand, you don’t “have” to install a fuel pack unless you also change out your air breather
