I did end up installing the quiet baffles after a couple of weeks driving this around. It brought the volume level down just enough so that I didn't need to wear ear plugs everyday. I didn't do a video on it at the time, unfortunately.
@big-j74264 жыл бұрын
How loud would you say it is out of 10 without baffles?
@KSSTUDIOS4 жыл бұрын
@@big-j7426 The stock ones were probably about a 6 to me. They had a pretty good crack to them when you twist the throttle. There are many more that are louder than these but I just prefer to not need ear plugs. Quiet baffles brought them down to a 5 with a nice rumble to them.

KSSTUDIOS I just put these in too and I want to install the quiet baffles..did u have to take the heat shield off and how many screws did u have to take off each slip on and was it easy to pull out ? Thanks 🙏🏽
@KSSTUDIOS4 жыл бұрын
@@TheSkyhighmusic I actually needed to take both of the mufflers and heat shields completely off in order to install the quiet baffles. The old baffles were easy to remove for me because they were still pretty new. The new baffles are wrapped in fiberglass and plastic and are a tight fit. I had to grease up the plastic wrapping with high temp grease and use a rubber mallet and wooden dowel to tap the baffles into place. I didn't record the install, but just make sure to keep the screw hole in the baffle lined up with the screw hole in the muffler while you push it in there. Good luck, they sound awesome once you get them installed! 😎

I just installed Vance and Hines Slip-ons and added V&H Fuel pack. I did this before watching your video. Makes me feel good that I did it right. But the best part is the riding music at the end. Thank you.

Ones I switched this exact exhaust for short shots from one bike to another. (I have no experience with this kind of work whatsoever) So, take both off and reinstalling both. Thought I could get it done in a few hours. I wish I’ve watched this video before I started that little endeavour..very helpful.! took me about 6hours to get it done. Lol

Thanks for the helpful and informative video. I have a 2018 Sportster 48 all stock. I have Vance & Hines slip-ons that have not been installed yet. This is the first video I've seen that shows step-by-step how to program the bike with the FP3. Would a Screaming Eagle tuner work with these slip-ons?
@KSSTUDIOS3 жыл бұрын
I've never used the Screaming Eagle tuner, but don't see any reason these mufflers would have any issues with it as long as they offer a map for your slip-ons.

Great video mate 👍🏼 Didn't even bother reading my instruction manual! Were your header heat shields included in the box or sold separately? I never got any.. After starting mine up for the first time it made me jump it was so loud haha..

Do you have to get a fuel pack if you’re just putting on a slip on?

I wish the installation instruction specify the torque for the clamps and screws.Don't really know how tight they should be.
@KSSTUDIOS4 жыл бұрын
I just made sure to snug them down until they felt secure. I do recommend tightening again after your first ride though. That first heat-up cycle might loosen them up a tiny bit.
@kiriakosliamis62905 жыл бұрын
is it necessary to have fuel pack 3 in order to put slip ons?Great vid btw
@KSSTUDIOS4 жыл бұрын
I'm no expert, but the popular answer is that a fuel controller is not needed for slip-ons. If you do full exhaust and/or upgraded air cleaner you will need to install one. In my case, the FP3 was actually the first part that I installed. Even with the stock air cleaner and mufflers, the bike seemed to run better with a new map applied. I ran it like that for a couple weeks before installing the air cleaner (and flashing a new map). Installed the slip-ons and flashed a new map again. Hope that helped!

How did you find the full stage 1 compared to stock ?
@KSSTUDIOS4 жыл бұрын
It definitely opened it up quite a bit. I think the air intake made the most performance difference to my bike. I noticed better throttle response for sure.
@Peter-zr8kq3 жыл бұрын
I installed mine and noticed that at each clamp there was a leak. I’m not really sure why as I had everything tightened down to specs. Mounting bolts to 20ftlbs and 40 ftlbs for the clamps.

Was it on a Sportster? Some bikes need an exhaust gasket installed depending on the header pipe.
@ChaseMac22 Жыл бұрын
I’m bout to install these on my 2020 iron 883 and I would like to know where these gaskets are located on the bike because all I know of is the header gaskets at the engine block. I definitely don’t want any leaks.

Hello, could you tell me what year is your 48 and if to mount the tails you have needed exhaust reducers to join the tails with the collectors? thanks and very good video.
@KSSTUDIOS3 жыл бұрын
This bike is a 2019. I did not need reducers. The V&H were direct fit onto stock header pipes.

Dude this bike looks amazing! Do you still own it? I'm thinking about the 48 as my first Harley. How much are the heat shields to replace the chrome ones? And is it necessary to get a tune even with slip ons? Sounds amazing 👏

Never mind saw your answer about the tune down below 😀

I am hesitating between this one and the ShortShots. Do you know if this one is quiter than the Shortshots? Thats the most important thing for me.

I really want to do this to my Iron 883 but I can't justify buying the pipes at $400, then an additional $450 for the Fuelpak tuner.

Not at all, in fact the bike seemed more responsive after the upgrades. Throttle response was much better in my case.

Were you not concerned about voiding your warranty with the FP3. I would prefer that tuner, but I am going to wait 2 years.

I never tried the stock seat on this bike. I bought it used and the previous owner had installed a Harley Sundowner seat on it. It was comfortable, but not the look I was going for. The seat I installed was roughly same seating position as that one.
