Imagine a political world where Donald Trump doesn’t exist. That’s what the VP debate sounded like on CBS last night. There was none of the crazy talk. No stage stalking. Not a whisper of a pet eating migrant...It was just two blokes talking policy rather delicately.
Tim Walz seemed nervous to a slicker more spirited JD Vance. But ultimately the Minnesota governor probably had the knock out blow when he asked his opponent “who won“ the last election. And JD Vance couldn’t say. Will this change the dial of a very tight race?

I'm pretty sure the people being extricated were US diplomats. The cover story and fake IDs were that they were Canadian film location spotters, for a sci-fi film. Who was the real life storyboard artist, for the fake film? I heard it was Jack Kirby, but not sure. It was someone famous and distinctive enough, to be plausible, and who already had a part finished film storyboard ready to go.

It's been a while but one of the first things we are taught in American Civics class is that the VP does not matter. He or she is only around to break ties in the Senate and in case the president dies. They have no role, no real assignments, just stay alive.

I remember civics too (pity it isn’t as widely taught anymore) I generally agree but I was speaking with my dad who said that it did actually make a difference with a couple of his cronies because they (all in their eighties) don’t see Trump as being able to continue 4 more years.

The problem that Vance has is that if someone tells Trump that Vance is in danger Trump will say "So what?" Just remember what happened to Mike Pence. Vance in the debate or Vance anywhere else - who is the real J D Vance?

Walz lost the debate if it is considered in isolation. However he was himself. He should have answered the visit to China better. Vance was someone completely different from all his other appearances and yet he still gaslighted about the Aca and the outcome of the last election.

I totally agree. Without any other context, you could say Vance won. But, in context, knowing everything else Vance has said, he executed a brilliant fake performance! He missed his calling, he should have been an actor! So who is the real Vance? Walz was very much himself and therefore more trustworthy in the final analysis!

Well this just shows how people can have a different take on the same event. Also how does someone with Sopel's experience not know the difference between an interviewer and a moderator? Making fun of Vance for assuming that the agreed upon rules of the debate would be followed and then raising an objection when they weren't. Even if it were an interview rather than a debate if there were rules agreed to beforehand I think it would be reasonable to assume they would adhered to.

Love or hate vance or walz .it was vance who won.but the two presenters are in an unreal bubble.the USA is in big trouble trump and vance are not the best .But harris and walz are like a comedy double act who are utterly out of there depth.

I don't know what parameters you use to say he won considering he lied most of the time. It seems to me people who say he won just like to be conned.
