@welderse14 Жыл бұрын
With a wounded 120 lb mountain lion coming down the tree a second shot is good insurance... Ammo is cheap.. I saw a cat get shot twice and still come out of the tree and ran 50 yards..

Hey Kiefer. I actually live in North Van, so not from the Island.. congrats on getting into hunting, it's the best! I would recommend you get signed up at your local fish and game club. You will meet lots of good folks who can point you in the right direction as a new hunter. Good luck !

Not hating, I've enjoyed several other of your videos before coming across this one and am just genuinely curious. I get hunting for food (and do appreciate you ate it in any case), and I get sport hunting predators in a situation of too many of them out there for how many prey animals are out there, but was the point of this really just 'I've never killed this kind of animal before so I'm going to have people take me to where I can kill one'? Or is there something else/more going on here?
@skyedge6158 Жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for the comment. I was very interested in participating in a mountain lion hunt for a few reasons: the predator management component was a big one, being able to observe well trained dogs do what they love to do, to have the oportunity to try mountain lion meat (i made a bunch of really delicious honey garlic and spicy pepperoni as well as jalapeno cheddar smokies ) + just the experience of what was a very different and exciting hunt. Its always with mixed emotions that we pull the trigger on an animal, but i believe we should view predator hunting no differently than deer hunting. An experience i will not soon forget! Thanks for watching
@williamrosswhite Жыл бұрын
@@skyedge6158 Thank you, I really appreciate your reply. I'm not aware of the predator management scheme on the island (I live on the coast), but I'm aware it's a thing. Would have been helpful to hear a bit about that in the video. It also came off a bit like that was all to facilitate you doing what you wanted instead of you tagging along with something that was happening anyways, so that's a good clarification too. Thanks! I'm very curious what the meat tasted like!
@skyedge6158 Жыл бұрын
@@williamrosswhite no problem. I always like chatting with the viewers. Its sometimes tough telling the story through video as i struggle to find the balance of filming and actually being present in the hunt. Meat is great, the thin strips of backstrap taste like a blend of chicken and pork. Weird but tasty. Smokies are the best ive ever had. Other have said the same as well

Shut up jackass. Predators need managed just like everything else. Man has impacted everything on this earth , for better or worse so we need to manage resources. You ever take antibiotics? Ever use a mousetrap? Ever kill a spider or bug? Did you eat those? Now 🤫
