Crazy that this train went through 3 whole cities before getting to Vancouver. Goes to show how dense the area is.

shocking to see so much open space, large parking lots and big box store near the train stations. ideal spots for housing and retail. Vancouver needs to develop those areas no wonder the cost of living there is so unaffordable
@bennettsteers9235 Жыл бұрын
It's getting better, most of the large shopping malls are being redeveloped into multitower developments. There have been probably a dozen towers that have started construction around Burquitlam station in the last 5 years.

Good god this system is so good. It is a big collective win for citizens of the Vancouver region to have voted this train into existence, and to be voting for its expansion. It's sheer competence outweighs drawbacks of being a gadgetbahn.. oh man I hope Alstom doesn't cut support

I was surprised to see a sign on Fraser Hwy in Langley announcing the Surrey-Langley extension, with a budget of some 4 billion dollars. It's been a proposed line for years now, as they left King George terminus open for expansion along Fraser Hwy back when they built it.

Boy that's a major metropolis that's grown a LOT in the past few decades!! I think this train and system to be comparable to what Europe or Asia has to offer (in the same metropolitan passenger hauling class of electric trains). "Fully Automated Trains" means these trains do not have a driver, is that right??
@carvolthproductions555 Жыл бұрын
Yes, the trains are automated most of the time. They are manually operated during harsh winter conditions or if they break down.

Pretty cool video!. I wonder how does the driver know if another train is ahead of him or the track switch is thrown ahead without any signal indications?
@carvolthproductions5552 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The SkyTrain system is automated and doesn’t operate normally with drivers, but the trains do operate manually from time to time, where a signal would come in handy.

I think the blue lights seen along the line, starting at 0:00 at King George could be signals.

The train gets power from the strip down the middle of the track, as opposed to over head catenary
@raistlinvanspronsentravel Жыл бұрын
The SkyTrain doesn't use overhead wiring, instead it uses a 3rd rail. That's the large strip down the middle of the track.
@zivan56 Жыл бұрын
The above replies are not correct. The power comes from the sides of the train (look to the sides of the track for covered areas). The middle section is an induction plate for the linear induction motor, which is not a traditional electric motor used in most metro systems. It does not carry any live electricity like the sides do.
@hobog9 ай бұрын
Yeah the middle rail is for the linear induction motor! Electric power is from weirdly hidden 4th (?) rail at the side

I'm so sorry for Canada. Most things about a good Canada are not true, Including clean cities - beaches, and forests. It's a big lie. The first time I arrived in Vancouver in 2018, I was shocked. As soon as I left the airport door, I saw tissue, disposable glasses, and other garbage left in the city. The further I went, the more I saw them. Before I moved to Canada, I lived in Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Serbia, The United States, and for a short time in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Netherland, Germany, and England, but I have never seen the amount of garbage that people leave in different Canadian cities. Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec are no less than Vancouver. Canadian and Canada Governments don't care about this tragedy. I think everything that says about Canada as a clean and powerful culture is not true. You don't need to travel to Canada to see this. Just watch some videos about walking in downtown Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec. You will find the truth. Impossible for you to walk in a Canadian city and you don't see the dark side of that. Everywhere you will see garbage. You will never see this in Europe, Australia, the United States, Japan, and Korea. This amount of waste is not even seen in Malaysian, Indonesian, or Thailand cities. It is impossible for you to use public transport and not see a lot of garbage at stations or on the route. You will be surprised to find a lot of garbage even in the woods - by the rivers and on the beaches in Canada. I wish the Canadians woke up and had no enmity with their country.
