Speaking of the new waterfront developments in Vancouver, washougal and Ridgefield, have you been to the waterfront park and beach in kalama WA? 45 mins or so north of Vancouver. Maybe only 30... Not to live in and commute, but the park is nice, mcmenamins and they are building a new indoor marketplace. Just went up to the new waterfront in Tacoma WA, Rustin... Loving all the new things on the water.

I moved to Ridgefield this year and absolutely love it. However, calling the trails a "system" is quite a bit of a stretch. I am probably spoiled from growing up in Ventura County, California, but trying to piece together anything more than a mile or two is a challenge. The new construction communities are not connected together. There are lots of trails, but they all hit dead ends after a mile or so. I have a 4.6 mile run / walk that I do that involves a 1/2 mile portion on Pioneer Street with no sidewalks in order to connect things together. I love the run, but it isn't easy to put any real mileage together in Ridgefield. You can easily walk from new construction to the Rosauers mall area, but you cannot walk to downtown Ridgefield on any trail. The only way to downtown is via Pioneer Street which loses sidewalk past the new construction and it is a busy street. I walk it but most people would probably not want to.

Yes I hear you on that I don't know why they constructed Clark County like that.... I grew up in Yakima WA. Where you actually have alleys and square blocks NO DEADS ENDS- trails that take you to the next City. When we first moved here we got lost all the time😂

Yeah I remember missing the bus in orchards & had to do a 5mi walk to school.....No sidewalks & on a dangerous County road @ a 50mph speed limit. Yeah that's my big takeaway of this area

Oh oop it was in Ridgefield where we was lost and stranded for 5hrs.... We hit dead end after dead end after dead end😆. Then we seen a State Patrol cat & asked him "one way in and one way out"🤣...... That was 35 years ago & imagine not much has changed

The one problem with this is it is overly optimistic. Anybody that would call the evergreen or camas school districts even stable, let alone good, has not talked to the teacher's union.

We haven’t spoken to any teachers union but thank you for mentioning that. I suppose it is all in comparison to where you are relocating from. Current teachers strike is now in Portland (October 2023). Sad we don’t take care of our teachers more ☹️

I am aware only because of my special needs niece and nephews, who have been delayed starting school in Evergreen School district 6 years out of the last 10 due to strikes. At least they strike at the end of summer, rather than waiting for school to start!

This title is misleading. Should have named it “Top 5 Places Real Estate Agents Want to Sell You a House in the Vancouver Outskirts”

No prices or any mention of affordability

You do not know what you’re talking about with motorized boats. Have you ever been to Lacamas Lake in the summer? There’s tons of them. Vancouver lake does not allow motorized boats!
