Vanderpump Rules’ Jax Taylor on becoming a reality tv star, overcoming debt, and more!

This week, Jason is joined by reality TV personality, model, actor, and podcast host, Jax Taylor!
Many of you know Jax from his role on Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules, where he earned a recurring role after working as part of Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant staff back in 2013. After eight seasons on the show, Jax and his now wife Brittany decided to leave the show and focus on their personal lives. Prior to life on reality TV, Jax spent many years traveling the world as a paid model and occasionally landing acting gigs on shows such as Desperate Housewives and Dexter. More recently, Jax joined a cast full of reality TV personalities on a new reality competition show, House of Villains, which aired this past fall on E! However, the biggest news with Jax is about his dramatic return to Vanderpump Rules for Season 11 in 2024.
Jax gives insight to why he changed his name, how he broke away from the midwestern career track, what modeling was like prior to social media, how he went from overdrafting his account in order to be in certain spaces, how he was going to leave LA when Lisa Vanderpump called with the idea for Vanderpump Rules, his advice for getting out of credit card debt, and when he felt like he was financially made it. If you really want to interview someone that financially survived rock bottom then you need to interview Stassi. I mean she turned down a 6 figure check from Bravo to appear on The Valley. For being cancelled she’s doing really well financially it seems.

Jax was def the scapegoat of VPR. I started watching the show after scandoval. I binged watched this show. Jax calling himself the number one was not only cocky af on his behalf but was so true. He makes great tv. Lastly jax was right about a lot of things. Sandoval could never. As jax says. He knew when he had to eat his humble pie. Unlike others.

I think our generation is in debt because we don’t necessarily have an out. We need to survive, and I even work a full time job along with my husband and there are times I have to put groceries on my credit card, prices are so high, rent is outrageous but I still need a shelter, and I still need to drive a car. Even with a used car I have car ins and car payments. Anyway enough ranting, just saying things are hard out here for us young generations lol

If you can’t pay it off, don’t charge it. Great advice. My dad is old school too and taught me to pay cash for everything. That hurt me in my 20’s bc I didn’t have any credit. Double edged sword. Get them and pay them off.

How was his relationship with Stassi ending before he got the show when he was with her during the first few seasons?

Stassi said in an interview that she and Jax had already broken up before filming for VPR even started. She was dating Frank but production wanted them to reenact their relationship. She was annoyed because it presented her as having two failed relationships in the first season.
