Williams has been my undisputed hero since I was 15 years old.* I have tears in my eyes even as I type this comment because I still remember jumping up in my living room while watching that Miss America pageant as they called the 2nd runner up and I realized either Vanessa or Suzette would be Miss America; *the first **_Black_** Miss America!!!* That was everything to me. When she was disrespected the following year, I defended her, loved her, and supported her. And when that first album came out, I remember buying THREE copies of it as a sign of support. I'm 55 now, with two grown & married children, and 2 grandchildren, and Vanessa L. Williams is STILL my hero. 🤗🥰😇

Good Morning. That's Beautiful. I remember being a kid when she won and when I saw her on the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade singing I fell in love with her voice along with members of my family. After she was forced to resign I was at my great grandmother's apartment and when the news reported that she was plan sue the magazine who published the photos, she said good!! Sue the piss out of them. I brought her 45 of the Right Stuff and later the album. She's one of my sheros.

Yes! I was a high school senior when Mrs. Vanessa Williams became the first Black Female to win Miss America. It was a fantastic moment in history. I lived 20 minutes away from Atlantic City, NJ. So, I watched the Miss America pagent parade on the Atlantic City boardwalk. Then later watched the televised show of Miss America on television. I can still remember the day after the newspaper the Press captured her stroll on the Atlantic City beach. Of course I brought the newspaper and it was the talk of the world and for everyone at my high school. I have never forgotten this moment. 😊😊😊😊😊
