Vanessa Williams is massively talented. I loved her in Soul Food... Save The Best For Last is one of my fav songs (and was a huge hit here in the UK), I love her in the film Dance with Me, and her version of Work To Do is great, as well as her duet with Al Jarreau. Vanessa has an absolutely phenomenal career and she is a gorgeous woman. Love her.

Another underrated gem from her, in my opinion, is "Colors of the Wind", from _Pocahontas_ (1995, I think?). The movie version is amazing but Vanessa’s is so good.

That Magazine was even sold all over Germany when it released and I got a copy of it on the very first day, even there. I knew that this was devastating for her, but I also knew that somehow the storm would blow over and she'd make it and still thrive because she was so talented. I just watched the Miss America documentary on Hulu. As a Black girl growing up in the 2000s, I was very aware of Vanessa as an actress and singer, and my mom told me about the scandal in passing, but I never understood the magnitude of it until viewing the doc. What makes it all funny now is that she is undoubtedly the most successful Miss America winner in the pageant’s history. Her career has eclipsed that scandal, the misogynoir she faced, and her tenure as Miss America. Her resilience and her tenacity are what make her a queen in my book!
