Vanessa is the epitome of the "I'll show you!/Living Well is the best revenge" stories after being dethroned to 40 plus years later becoming an icon. The most relevant Miss America ever! I love that she loved "Ugly Betty," and as she stated, I also feel that it was a groundbreaking show that constantly told the story of affirming who you are, whoever you are! It was a great show that I don't think gets the recognition it deserves, and this was probably one of Vanessa's greatest performances...she was perfection!

Saw her on 23rd street in NY some years ago coming out of a trailer. She was actually more beautiful in person than on screen or TV. (No kidding!) My son was about 9 or 10. He saw her and said, “Mommy, she’s pretty.” Vanessa must have heard him. She smiled, waved at me and my son, and said Hi. Lovely lady. Still humble and sweet.
