I agree as well. “Call me when they bury bodies underwater” is a pretty great line that I think describes a feeling of shame that survivors of suicide or self harm attempts get. Like, this is how shameful and guilty he feels. He wants to be buried in the ocean 😅 just the deepest depths. “Eyes like frozen planets. Just orbiting the vacuum I am.” I think this is another line fueled by shame and guilt. They are frozen in disbelief, but he is a vacuum just sucking away their life force, or, making them “cold” to him. Either this is the first time, or this is another unsuccessful attempt. Basically, to me, this sounds like someone that feels like their presence is a burden. I have had friends who have hit similar low points and this is how they sound. Just kind of finished. He just wants to crumble and be washed away in the ocean

I've always interpreted the song as Vessel's suicide attempt. British ambulances have blue lights. "Bandage up the trenches" - in various pictures and videos taken at concerts you can see Vessel has 3 parallel scars on his left forearm. I believe those are the 'trenches' he refers to. "I woke up surrounded, eyes like frozen planets Just orbiting the vacuum I am They talk me through the damage, consequence And how it's a pain they know they don't understand Sobbing as they turn to statues at the bedside I'm trying not to crush into sand So flood me like Atlantic, weather me to nothing Wash away the blood on my hands" This whole segment refers to him waking up at the hospital, surrounded by the personnel and relatives and close people. They talk him through the attempt, possible reasons and consequences (I thought about the possibility they wanted to put Vessel in some institution, trying to take away your own life is of course a very obvious sign that your mental health is not doing well) His relatives and friends are of course upset, they don't know why he decided to take such drastic actions. He's filled with guilt in making them feel this, trying not to break down.

It’s 3am and I’ve spent the last hour going down a rabbit hole of your Sleep Token videos and it makes me genuinely happy to see someone enjoy and have the same reactions while listening to them. This is probably like my 3rd comment ever on KZbin but I wanted to swing by and say that but also say that after you’ve listened to all of the sleep token songs possible, finish it with Euclid - it will crush you, in a good way. What a pleasant surprise for some reason wasnt expecting you to react to this one so soon. Lyrically probably my favorite song of theirs. I too cried and like a baby reading the lyrics. I think the songs for sure about guilt but also something much more specific than the description described. I think it's about somebody waking up in the hospital after causing an accident, probably like a car accident, finding out they killed someone and the guilt they're feeling, feeling like they murdered that person. They'd almost rather die in that moment than live with the guilt, so they just want the hospital to finish treating their wounds from the accident and "flood" them full of pain meds so they can sleep and be left alone. Never cared as much for singing and lyrics in music as much as the music itself but Vessel has completely changed how I feel about it. His ability to paint pictures and use metaphors, describing things in such a poetic way is incredibly admirable. Idc what anyone says, Sleep Token has the potential to be one of the greats up there with the likes of Queen and Michael Jackson. I feel very lucky to be a part of the movement and am grateful for reactors like you killing it and spreading the magic as well, Vanessa. VangGo lets go! 🤙

I strugle from severe PTSD and this song hits me really hard every time i hear it because I can relate so much to the lyrics...At one time i isolated my self deep in a forrest in Sweden to protect ppl around me from myself and it ended up in suicide attempt because I couldn't cope anymore. The worst thing about that whole situation was waking up and seeing the pain in my loved ones eyes and at the same time feeling there desperation in trying to understand but knowing they never will. And i couldn't help thinking why did you wake me up/saved me because all i wanted and stil wants today is peace from all the traumas and things I've experienced as a soldier things i have to deal with every day.. So thank you Vessel for saying the words i can't find myself and describing exactly how it is and how i feel.. Music, lyrics and love keeps me fighting and going on...

It sounds to me like it’s referencing an event, the car crash that he has mentioned in other songs. “I woke up surrounded, eyes like frozen planets just orbiting the vacuum I am” describing his experience waking up in the hospital potentially to people standing around him after losing someone close to him in the accident. “They talk me through the damage, consequence And how it's a pain they know they don't understand” sounds as though they were telling him about the person he has lost and saying they can’t imagine how he feels. “Sobbing as they turn to statues at the bedside I'm trying not to crush into sand” crying after hearing the news and everyone standing still and silent because they know there’s nothing they can say. This whole song sounds as though it’s describing the moods and emotions from losing his loved one in a car accident of some sort. He references the car accident in granite as well.

This is one of my favorite songs from them,as I commented in the original video,this song it's so full of metaphors that it breaks my mind trying to understand what it's all about,I'm autistic and ambiguous communication makes it hard to understand, it makes me want to get to the real meaning,but the way Vessel develops this song makes me feel and somehow undestand every fucking word he sings,this song is very special to me,a kinesthetic experience,where I can hear those metaphors and sounds like in colors,especially when the synthesizers hit,it feels like a whale or a creature in solitude under the vast sea,in fact the mix in Vessel's voice after the sinthetizers sounds like completely submerged under water, by that pain,have you ever felt like submerging in the bottom of the sea and that pain is swallowed together with you?sometimes I feel like I'm there, at the bottom of the sea.

So deep and connected to the people who had big obstacles with toxic behaviours or/and psychological abuse to overcome. Sleep token gave me more strength and hope because i don’t feel has lonely. They are helping me to evacuated the negative emotions that are still there in my healing journey. My interpretation in the first part , "call me when they bury......" Hallucinations and bizarre thoughts when coming to after being put under anesthesia. Because then next verse, "I woke up surrounded, eyes like frozen planets..." peoples (doctors, family, the authorities, etc) standing around him as he comes to. Then followed by "they talk me throught the damage, consequences, and how it's a pain they don't understand" As some will interpret this song as a failed suicide, I tend to go with the narrative that is mentioned in many of STs songs, an car accident where his partner has died or is in a coma. (Vessel has another music duo he was involved with that has a song called "The Patient" that has lyrics describing this scenario.) Also the lyric "wash the blood from my hands", would describe the guilt he feels in causing the accident (see lyrics to Granite) The lyric "flood me like Atlantic" I tend to equate with requesting to be sedated to the point of sleep and to then not wake him up. Musically this song sets the tone for this album, a deep descent into despair and guilt.

I think it's about being so depressed you dont want to get out of bed, even tho you arent sleeping. I think hes talking about his friends trying to ply him with women, and his doctors trying to give him meds to make him more tolerable to them. I think hes begging them to quit with the superficial attempts to fix a deeper issue and just let him drown.
