I think, at least for me, it felt very much out of my comfort zone so I didn’t really give it the chance it deserved. Metal screaming is something new that I wasn’t exactly ready for😂 it’s been about a year since I first listened to the song and now I’m like “why exactly didn’t I like this one?” It’s one of the only sleep token songs I hadn’t added to a playlist. And now I’m going to have to play it on loop for the next few days so I can fully absorb it into my bloodstream LOL

This song is their most relatable to me, too. Been working on a lot of self healing over the last six months and learning a lot about how I function. The very core of it is I always feel like I’m in emotional pain, and I do a lot of good and bad stuff to distract myself from it. Learning to metabolize that pain has been the hard part.

Oh man. Vore really crept in on my listening habits hard when this album started coming out. I listened to the whole album so much, but I found myself starting with, returning to, repeating, Vore so much that it ended up handily in my top 5 on Spotify's year-end wrap. Vore is such a sick song with a gorgeous ebb and flow of the heavy and soft. I love that album, but Vore is a top favorite among favorites. Glad that it landed so well with you too! 🙏

To answer your question, people were probably hesitant of how much "heaviness" you were comfortable with, maybe that's why they first gave you "Aqua Regia" or the "The Summoning" but nah yeah, this one's a fan favorite for sure..

I wasnt crazy about Vore myself when I first heard it, think its the screams at the beginning as I'm very picky about harsh vocals. Sounded a bit too Metalcore or even Screamo for my liking but now I honestly dont mind Vessels screams, especially in context of the rest of this song. I've had this song on repeat lately There's actually some awesome things going on, most notably to me, this song must be a singer's delight. Vessel goes through FOUR styles of singing throughout. Starts with harsh vocals then progresses to chest voice, head voice then tops it off with falsetto before going back to harsh and chest voice stuff. The vocal diversity used in Vore is highly underrated and never talked about! Ive said before and Ill say again Vessel has really inspired me to sing and if you know drummers, that's quite a compliment. 🤣 Im glad they're inspriging you too Vanessa, happy to see you pick up an instrument! Out of curiosity…how much metal/heavy music did you listen to before you started reacting to Sleep Token? Pretty sure I saw your very first reaction to Sleep Token…was that also your first metal reaction? I’m legitimately curious to see how many non-metal fans they’ll draw into heavy music. There are so many great heavy bands, and I’m excited for more “mainstream” music listeners to discover them…because paying bills is hard, and the more people listening to your music, the easier it is to pay the bills! If you get to the end of this comment…another genre-bending heavy band that I think everyone should listen to is Zeal & Ardor. Lots of bangers, but “Death to the Holy” is a favorite of mine. They don’t sound anything like Sleep Token, but if you listen I think you’ll get why I think they are musical siblings.

vore is a strange kink, the idea is the closest you can be with someone is to be inside them. so their fantasy is to be eaten by the loved one. also alot of ancient gods demanded human sacrifices where they would eat thier offering. sleeptoken has alot of vore throughout the lore. this was just an offering. take a bite! do jaws!
