Arguably the best sci-fi movie of all time. First Watched in 1983 & for me still my favourite version. The music so important & definitely make the movie the classic it is. Still listen to the music & all the versions that I find including this great one. The movie has been watched a 100 times.

The Real prize and what I've not been able to find is the 'Blade Runner Tape' A cassette made by one of the post audio engineers at the studio where the final mixes to film took place. No doubt more for his own listening than to release it to public. Somehow it became known it does exist. It is apparently an epic version of the soundtrack albeit not the best quality due being on cassette tape. Definitely a Holy Grail search in the world of Blade Runner .

This is really interesting, the source material largely coming from a dialog-free dubbing copy, correct? My only criticism is that the textures, sounds and musical fragments are intersecting too quickly. It sounds rushed. It's a pity these beautiful soundscapes you've assembled aren't allowed to breathe a little more.

@communication0012 жыл бұрын
Quiet bits because of copywrite, says near beginning. I prefer less of the things like the saxophone, and piano stands out a bit too. Tho i like the trumpet on this. Very minimal. Otherwise it betrays itself as too eighties at those moments not the truly future ambient thing that it touches on otherwise. Yes the swelling keyboards are a bit too Yes and rick wakeman maybe but when the little beat gets going in the background you could put it in a psychedelic chill out room in the nineties and it would go down really well.

17:34: "I thought I had a shot at being human again." Interesting line in light of the 'was Deckard a human or replicant?' debate.
@andylloyd30643 жыл бұрын
Ridley Scott said some years ago that Deckard was a replicant but, to my mind, it was never clear in the film. I've just read the Phillip K Dick novel 'Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep' and in the book Deckard has doubts that he is human but gives himself a quick Voight-Kampff test and decides that he is. All very strange. One of the best films ever made, IMO.
@karibean20073 жыл бұрын
@@andylloyd3064 He is a replicant, remember the famous Deckard's unicorn dream?..well, there is a small unicorn figure among the objects that JF Sebastian had at his apartment, and JF was the "mind designer"...so the dream was a memory implant...
@socialisolation3703 жыл бұрын
Rick Deckard like Dave Holden were both newer model Nexus 7 replicants. Under Gaff's close supervision they were allowed a trial existence to work in earth society as Blade Runners. This is why Rick had to be briefed by Bryant on what was a model Nexus 6. Even retired, Deckard if human should have known about Nexus 6, but he hadn't this knowledge. Nexus 7 didn't operate as extreme a model as the Nexus 6 combat and space worker version, thus, had a much longer lifespan due to not having superhuman strength. This is why we later see Deckard in the 2049 sequel. Rachel, like Deckard was a procreating version replicant, perhaps Nexus 6 Version 2.0 or N-7 as shown in the sequel. Byrant sent Deckard out to a predetermined meeting with Rachel, where ultimately they fell in love and later produced a child as realized in Blade Runner 2049. Both Deckard and Rachel had implanted memories with bits and pieces of knowledge. Various displayed personal photographs as memory enhancement. Nothing to make them question if they were real or not. Captain Harry Byrant had on his desk what looked like a personal photos [reminder] lampshade from what seemed to be an water buffalo safari he experienced. The base of this lamp was a taxidermy rhinoceros foot. Perhaps he too was Nexus 7. The Voight-Kampff evaluation was Tyrell testing not Rachael, the Nexus prototype, but Deckard himself, and sure enough he passed. Deckard wasn't in the least bit perturbed by the questions meant to provoke emotional responses from most replicants, thus rendering the test worthless in identifying the latest *"more human than human"* model. Roy Batty spared Deckard even when he did not spare his maker. Roy felt sympathy for the more advanced replicant that didn't even know what it truly was. Batty knew Deckard was a replicant through Pris from Sebastian. Gaff knew Deckards memories and this is why he left the origami unicorn prior to allowing both Deckard and Rachel to escape off together on a honeymoon-like adventure. This was a beta test to know if they would remain in love and procreate, which happened.
@Stefano1969able Жыл бұрын
The beatings Deckard receives would kill any human. The action of the characters says as much or more than their dialogues.

@@damian.r. I think it may be from one of the items in the "Final Cut" box set of a few years back/ One of the discs contains a collection of outtakes and alterate versions, assembled sequentially to essentially be a ~45 minute alternate Blade Runner. Only saw it once quite a while ago but if you're into Blade Runner, it is definitely one to seek out.
@communication0012 жыл бұрын
The butchered original theatrical cut. A couple of years later the first of a few directors cuts was playing to strong audiences as a late night cinema staple. A cult film after the fact in other words. The money came in and spoiled it all as he wanted a popular thing like star wars but scott had made a combersome outsider epic. All minimalism and atmosphere. Do we like the narration? Good to hear it here but its all too noir for the original and spoils the suspense.
