Vangelis - Memories of Green (State Azure Cover)

Another tribute to the great Vangelis, and another favourite track of mine from the Blade Runner OST and album 'See You Later'. I'm not the best at playing piano, and it's quite a bit slower than the original, but I hope you enjoy it!

Vangelis was my first taste of electronic music, at age 12. I can hear his influence in some of your tracks and it takes me back. As for Blade Runner, it's my favourite film and yeah, Memories of Green is a timeless track (and the accompanying music to a crucial scene in the film - right before the unicorn dream sequence foreshadow...). Looking forward to it.

Excellent performance; the slow pacing was perfect. This piece has always been my favorite from the movie, and I consider it to be Vangelis' crowning musical achievement, though I'm sure more than a few would disagree with me on that point.

Remember when the original soundtrack to Blade Runner was unreleased and some copycat version was released instead due to licencing issues? Man that sucked so much. My first taste of electronic music was from Jean Michel Jarre before Oxygene had an official release. I heard the track used on a BBC Horizon special predicting the future. I tried to obtain it with my parents (I was young) and did not know what it was called. I tried to awkwardly describe it to a WH Smiths staff member (they had a music section back then). They pulled out Vangelis Spiral album and even though it was not the track I was after my parents bought it for me anyhow. I was mesmorized by it. Became an instant fan.

Glad to know the music reached out to you at such a young age. I was Just 10 yrs old hearing Heaven & Hell as my mum bought it for my Dads birthday after hearing it on the radio.... I have the Blade Runner Motion Picture score on vinyl. It is probably the thing I have listened to the most, out of almost anything else, particularly since Vangelis passing. This is so in keeping with the overall arrangement, yet is it's own thing. Thanks for sharing.

Funny that this song was not intended to be OST, it's original from the album "See You Later", was used by Vangelis to complete the OST for Blade Runner, because Ridley Scott didn't give Vangelis much time to write the whole soundtrack. But today most of the people think that belong to Blade Runner movie as if it was written for it, it was a lucky good match to it anyway.
