This lovely rendition has now become a fitting tribute to the Greek maestro, Vangelis who sadly passed away recently. 😢

I just want to say thank you for making this video, my dad is a huge fan of Vangelis, especially from the 1982´s movie Bladerunner where Memories of Green was used as a soundtrack, he fell in love with it since he was a teenager and a year ago he requested me if I could play this song one day that I had time, time that I didn´t have to practice the piano, but today I finished practicing this song in particular and played it for him and he loved it, he never thought he would hear his son playing the song he requested a year ago, and it wouldn´t have been possible without your help (i´m not that good at reading scores, it would have taken me weeks), so, again, thank you for making this video, you helped me making my old man happy :)

This song is purely sublime. It's born of sweet, serene melancholy and defines Rachel during her moments of introspective solitude--perhaps even the other replicants--in a way that mere dialogue could not describe. You played this piece beautifully, capturing Vangelis' playing with delicate care. I love this soundrack very much, and I find it odd that the song I love the most is the one that is the least electronic. This song is woeful yet contemplative, hopeful and filled with bliss.

Memories of Green... consider the title in the context of Blade Runner, a dystopian world where nature withers and dies. Rachel's implanted memories with her mother, shadows of leaves projecting on them on the sunny day the picture portrays.

Brilliantly played. As a novice i am trying to learn this piece. At my level i thought left hand played bass clef and right hand played the treble clef ... obviously not in this piece. Any guidance/thoughts out there? Also what is the signficance of the occasional notes in brackets eg bar 13 the 'C' about 50 seconds into the video.
@marcusn150411 ай бұрын
Thanks! Well, I suggest you play it the way it feels comfortable for you, in terms of fingering and choice of hand. I believe I put a few notes within brackets as I was not entirely sure Vangelis actually plays them on his recording.
@philj372711 ай бұрын
@marcusn1504 thanks for the reply. I was hoping that was the answer. Sometimes, i have copied your hands but at times other fingering is more comfortable for me. 👍

Well like Vangelis, I prefer to learn it by ear, instead of increasing an input layer between the flowing work or brain - fingers - ears. I’m not negative criticizing who prefers learning by notes of course.
