--------
In this clip, Vlad drew contrasts between Vanilla Ice's music career and that of Joe Smith, an NBA star whose fortune fell apart due to mishaps in his personal life and mismanagement of funds. Vlad posed a question to Vanilla Ice about his financial stability, which the rapper confirmed is quite strong, mainly due to smart investments and avoidance of financial disasters that often plague celebrities. He then proceeded to discuss his continued contributions to the music industry and the lasting impact of his 90s anthem "Ice Ice Baby."

When I was 15 years old in 1996, I saw a tv show about Vanilla Ice and how he was running an extreme sports store in Miami. I called information (411) in Miami and got the phone number. I had to do it that way because the internet wasn't the internet back then. I kept calling the store asking for Rob. Finally, he was there and I got to talk to him. I remember him asking "who is this?" I said oh I am just a fan! So me, a fan he didn't know bothering him at work... But he was extremely nice to me. He talked to me for a short while, and I asked him about the music he was working on. I never forgot how nice he was to me, just over the phone. I have told many people about how good he was. Thanks Ice! You're the man!

Exactly. It's funny how average ppl will call a celebrity broke when they earn way less than the person they're calling broke. Lol When Remy Ma dissed Nicki Minaj the Nicki Minaj fans were calling Remy Ma broke despite Remy Ma having an annual income of $400k per year while statistically the majority of Nicki Minaj fans will never have a six figure salary.

I saw vanilla ice when he had his nu metal band at Birch hill in New jersey in the late 90's. He was dead broke in an RV. I'm glad he's in a good place. I wish Vlad talked about this era because he went from 100 to 0 real quick way before vh1 in the early 2000s. Vlad glossed over the mid-late 90s when he was in dive bars. He was great live but we have a huge gap in this story and if he did his research this would be fascinating.

His song was/is successful because the lyrics walked the line. Rap tells a story and his story reached the masses. His lyrics were right under the line. In stead of bodies fallin his lyrics had shells falling on the concrete.........The girlies (were) on standby...Waving just to say, "Hi" Did you stop? No, I just drove by.........He told the same story without offending anybody.....That's why its a rap anthem.... Raps breakout anthem was Rappers Delight......same formula

A handful of these rappers if they're very lucky will have a year or two where they'll make major coin; maybe 10 million a year and they'll have the lifestyle to match. Then, suddenly they're no longer hot anymore, people move on and those rappers the following year may "only" make 2 million dollars for that year. They're still rich by most peoples standards but they've already got used to living and spending like someone on 10 million. There's a big difference in the kind of lifestyle you can have on 2 million a year vs 10 million a year. That sudden drop in lifestyle can be very tough for them both mentally and financially.

I’ll never feel bad for athletes going broke. They can literally take take the smallest percentage of their salary and invest in real estate and make passive income for life by renting out properties

Real estate can go bad really quick if you do it wrong. A pro athlete would be much better off putting a chunk of money into a Trust or similar vehicle where they can't touch any of the principle for the rest of their lives, but it produces an annual income for their benefit. If Joe Smith had put away just $5M into something like that, it would essentially guarantee him $200k/year (and adjusting upwards for inflation) for the rest of his life. Not baller money, but enough to be comfortable and not have to worry about money for the rest of his life. And that's assuming everything else went wrong and he had no other money or income streams.

Yall make real estate investing sound so easy…..its not. I wish ignorant people would stop making it seem like all u gotta do is buy a property then rent it…..it aint that easy and just a lil research would show u it aint. Not saying athletes should be broke but just assuming real estate is the answer is crazy

@@MIGGYME1exactly. Just about the say the same thing. Dealing with tenants is NOT passive income. You can hire a manager but then you’re dealing with them and losing profit. I think REIT investments is the most passive real estate investments. Let them do the work while I collect a check 👍🏻

Kids these days don't realize just how big Vanilla Ice was in the early 90's. I was in 5th grade when he came out, and I swear, every kid wanted to be him. Also, take into account that there were only 2 music channels on tv, radio play was everything back then, and there was no internet, Vanilla Ice was basically crammed down your throat whether you wanted it or not. For better or for worse, Vanilla Ice played a huge part in getting white kids into rap and creating W-g--r culture in the 90s.
