I remember this invincible Pally that would show up with 4 Alliance friends at low level questing zones and kill all the low levels until a large enough Horde party would show up to battle them out of the zone. I was a level 60 Tauren druid with decent gear, I had been heavily focused on PvP and knew what I was doing. It seemed like months that this clan would terrorize our horde lands and my friends and our small Guild would show up to push them out. We knew each one of them by their in game name and I'm sure they knew of us, as we would always be there to challenge them when they had their way with our lands. Most of our battles we would have them out numbered 2:1(with the help of the low level locals who were high enough level not to get "one shot") and we rarely ever had the satisfaction of killing this invincible pally and his pocket healer priest. My point is that you should go into Vanilla Wow with a fresh mind; uncertain of which spec/class is best. I don't want to go into a brand new classic WoW and see 10 copy paste's of the "Meta Warrior Build." I was a "Oomkin", its kind of funny how I was never aware of this nickname as a "Bomkin". This OP paladin was Protection. Don't let other players define what spec/role you need to play based on your class. Better to be an "Oomkin" than a "Meta Slave" in my opinion. What made vanilla wow great was all the experimentation because NO ONE knew what was the best spec/class because game balance was always shifting. Who would suspect that a prot pally and a boomkin would meet nearly every night in glorious PvP across Azeroth. It seems that every video I watch about "Which class should you pick" seems to be a copy and paste from the last video I watched. Seriously these classic WoW content creators are just feeding off each other. Don't fall into the meta slave mentality, be the best staff wielding warrior in WoW. I look forward to hearing your tales of heroism. Stay unique, think for yourself!

Well said! I levelled 1-60 as a holy priest twice as fast as my friend's rogue simply by being more efficient with my levelling route and grabbing so much more dungeon groups than he could find. Skill trumps meta or those videos of naked rogues beating everyone 1V1 in pvp wouldn't exist.

This is an epic story and a perfect example of why Classic is everything that I need in a video game. I don't plan to PvP, but I dang sure plan to eat popcorn and watch while others do. ^_^ And who knows, maybe I'll fall into an unplanned PvP session in STV on my PvE server anyway. If I do, you can bet your bottom dollar that I'll be specced how *I* like and not how the internet tells me to. If that means no raiding, then it means no raiding. I'm in it to have fun my way, not the min/max way.

I do agree that one of the brilliant things about vanilla WoW were the culture surrounding the casual players. They did whatever they found fun and meaningful and somehow had to make it work, because they didn't know any better. But in my opinion there's also a downsite to this behavior/approach. On one hand it's cool to see variety and on the other hand it's frustrating to count on others that doesn't manage to deliver the full potential of a raidspot or even just their class. To me vanilla WoW was extremely fun, but also very much reliant on the results you could create. I didn't really have fun while farming, leveling or most of the time I was raiding (it was more like a job/chores you needed to do), but it was all worth it because it enabled me to get an advantage in PvP which were the core motivation for me to play WoW back then. The better your gear were, the more fun you had in PvP. So if I possessed the knowledge that the main reason I couldn't get my gear was because we had 10-15 goof specs in the raid which made it impossible to kill a boss... it would p*** me off. As long as the odd ones doesn't drag me down, I love having them around in the game because it makes the experience that much more... "full circle". So yeah.. I don't know. I guess I agree but also I guess the casuals and the "hardcore" should't raid together (breaking news *cough*) :p Btw even though I didn't really enjoy farming it was still, by far, one of the very things that made vanilla WoW so good. If you wanted to be among the best, you had to work your god damn butt off to become just that. The pain of forming a group for UBRS back in the day... it could take hours just to find a full group and get them all into the dungeon and what would your reward be? If you're lucky you walk away with a rare item, lol. Damn that's brutal, but so much more rewarding when you finally reach your goal. Back in the days where a single epic item would make people in the capitals turn their heads. The good ol' days ;-D I'm gonna try out WoW classic for sure but I'm very sceptical as to how the experience will be for me. As you mention the players were much more innocent in that no one really knew what the best spec etc. were. We all had our opinions, but most where not based too much on facts. We have learned and evolved a lot as players and as a community since then, hence the game will not be as explorative as it was. The meta slave route will most likely be much more present in wow classic compared to vanilla. I'm very curious as to how big of a factor it will turn out to be for my experience. Hopefully I will enjoy Classic WoW as much as I did back in the days with vanilla. To me it's still the best game I've ever played.

@chipmanman16 жыл бұрын
Warriors go from top dps in the first raid to second dps in the last raid, automatically making them as viable as dps. How could you not want several of the class that has the arguably best dps in the first two major raids. Also there are several raid fights where you need like multiple warriors iirc aside from 4 horsemen. It's true that a position such as main tank often fell to the GL or high ranking officer, but that still leaves a couple tanking positions as well as great dpsers. As far as warriors go in pvp, sure you can lose several matchups 1v1, but in group pvp nothing really ever seemed as broken to me than a t3 warrior holding the flag with a flock of fury and arms warriors getting healed by 3 to 6 healers. Like how on earth do you kill the flag carrier with that sustained healing, damaged, and mitigation.

@0:50-6:19 I started playing a Warrior just before Burning Crusade came out and found it to be exhilarating. It was the thrill of riding the Risk-Versus-Reward spectrum; summarized as dealing DMG and receiving DMG in order to obtain the Rage resource necessary for using Active Skills. As I became more accustomed to the Warrior class, I soon learned that the key to being an effective Warrior was properly managing the Rage resource during battle. I found it was best to train myself to not spam Active Skills unnecessarily; otherwise I would end up wasting Rage. Timing was important too; knowing when to use Active Skills like Thunder Clap, Rend, Overpower, etc. is invaluable in the journey to becoming a top tier Warrior. In conclusion, Warrior is a great class to play if you can react well to ever-changing situations~ On that note, a word of warning: Beware of getting _kited_ by spell-casters who can use movement impairing spell effects. Scenarios like that can ruin your day rather quickly~ I speaking from personally experience of dealing with those darn Frost Mages and Affliction Warlocks... They are quite dangerous when outside of a Warrior's combat range~

Paladin is just fun. you can do nothing in any category, but in early game a paladin is a great tank due to it´s heals and it does acceptable damage. sure it´s useless in the highlevel areas, but for me that´s okay. i know i deserve death for this blasphemy but i want to have fun pre 60. I know that everything below 60 is seen/meant as just the necessary grind. but if i have to grind 400h before i´m officially allowed to have fun. f that. SO i´ll just play my low level paladin up to 60 and if he get´s boring/frustrating okay. Warlock however is just funny. i don´t know what it was, but it just was a blast especially in early levels.

Played warrior(Tauren) as main and MT/OT/DPS in vanilla, I can certainly agree with how gear dependent Warrior was, it was one of the classes that required you to initially see it as a second job, for farming for arcanite reaver, and other initial tanking/pvp/pve gear, running certain instances 24/7 in hope of getting that special gear part, while prepping for MC raid, which our guild was one of the few able to defeat before it was nerfed and put on auto farm mode, same with BWL, best times ever, AQ40 was hell though. I also played Druid(feral OP in TBC!), which became my main in TBC, and MT there as well, our group in the guild we were in, were the karazhan raid keys enablers(for raid access quest to the other 25 raids), as we killed off both the dragon and Malchezaar(extreme fast and heavy hitting at final stage, only well built feral druids could survive this, other strats were trying to kiting him) before they were nerfed and they were needed for raid keys, for Eye (Tempest keep) raid. Am I looking forward to classic WoW? Both yes and no, my inner child and gamer, is screaming "yes!", the concerned for getting addicted and who has other stuff I need do, is screaming, "oh god, no, pls!"

I raided as a rogue in vanilla and the best build for a long time, until Naxx dropped and it became combat maces, was Coldblooded Preparation daggers for damage and combat for more control. The hardest part about rogue though as a CBP dagger rogue is managing agro though, I can't count the number of times that I either came close to or accidentally pulled ago blowing up on bosses with tanks who were less geared or skilled than our main tanks. This being said my guild leader was pretty chill as far as our MC group and I was told a number of times that I could go ham once we'd moved beyond MC as a guild for the most part and it was also a big reason that myself and other rogues in our raid guild were asked to push our newer warriors to see if they could manage holding agro against high damage. Rogue was also amazingly fun in PvP simply because of their ability to fight almost anyone even their counter classes which is warrior mostly.
@DVSPress6 жыл бұрын
Someone who gets it! People think I'm crazy when I say Rogue can beat any matchup. Best part about Rogue if you can avoid any matchup you don't want.
@Xyzyshi6 жыл бұрын
@@DVSPress I don't know that I'd say they were the strongest 1v1 as much as that rogue players were exceptionally dedicated to perfecting their gameplay. A majority of the rogue players I knew during vanilla never played alts and their only character was rogue after they started playing it. A big part of this was because rogue also had many different specs that were viable in PvP and PvE (Until you were in AQ40/Naxx then it was kinda important you were the highest DPS possible for the class). This may have been one of the reasons rogues appear to be stronger than many of the other classes since it allowed them to counter a wide variety of other classes with different builds.
@DVSPress6 жыл бұрын
I actually think the effect is opposite - most people think rogues aren't as good as they are because there are so many bad players in the class (or were, back in the old days).
@Xyzyshi6 жыл бұрын
David Stewart I can't argue with that statement because it is definitely true and was a huge part of why many of us were so devoted to becoming the best of the best among the community. But that did make a lot of people think the class was bad yes. Prior to 1.9 (I think it was 1.9) I would agree rogues were incredibly good, if not broken, if someone know what they were doing with macros, hello even after 1.9 they were still amazing and atleast on par with the other greats for damage and survivability in PvP for sure. 1.9 was when weapon damage got normalized and the era or 1 shot ambush builds ended. While I can say I miss the comedic value of literally killing mages and priests from full health with a single ambush; I can definitely understand the issue and am glad it was recognized and fixed.
@chipmanman16 жыл бұрын
Rogue players weren't higher skill on average than any other class. They had more control than anything while their cooldowns were up, and maybe slightly less than a mage or warlock when they weren't. The difference between watching a rogue pvp video back in the day and, say a paladin video, is that it looked like the rogue is doing so much more because the rogue gets to control the fight (unless caught out of stealth with a dot from 25 yards away....), whereas other players were just reacting to what the rogue was doing. Even in the fabled rogue craft videos, hombre often looks pretty bad by today's standards and only wins by spamming cooldowns vs terrible players whilst using evisceration which deal damage regardless of gear. I'd say the warrior maydie showed much better character movement, for instance. The reason that mages, warlocks and rogues had a monopoly on pvp videos, aside from warriors and their healer vids or shadow priests killing 3 under geared and rage starved warriors trying to auto attack through PWS, is that they had the ability to control not only their opponent, but another player as well. It was unique to their classes. Like how do you make a pvp video as an elemental shaman? Zoom in and focus on how you chose earthbind totem so that you could flame shock the rogue (leaving the dot) instead of frost shock? 95 percent of players wouldn't even understand the value of doing things like that back then unless you specifically explained it to them with editing. It's not hard to understand, "oh man, this dude is taking on 4 people at a time!" ...when in reality they are 4 terrible scrubs too indecisive and terrible or under geared to win. No.. you'd probably make a 2shot video as an elesham if you wanted views back then.
@Fancypants1176 жыл бұрын
Druid is honestly the best lvling class, ya sure rogues get stealth, but so do druids and druids can also tank in that same spec and pop some heals if need be, or pop a few spells to pull better Most servers usually have a druid the first class to hit max level on almost every server, with vanilla wow and newer versions of wow Druids are amazing for leveling, and just respec to a healer once you max out But then again everyone hates healing for some reason and I don't get why it's such a hated role, instead of getting enjoyment for big damage numbers you're getting those massive healing numbers, like a reverse DPS

tbh the servers I was on that had druid cap first had a bugged script that allowed druid to backstab (shred) the mob in the face. When spec'd properly that produces insane dps with zero effort and zero downtime. Otherwise, yah usually a hunter is first up. Regardless druid is an easy leveling experience once you get past 20. I don't heal on druid because I suck as a healer. I have tried it on literally every class and I suck at the whack a mole game of healing. And ... it's always the healers fault, even when that idiot mage tab targetted a mob in the next group and pulled half the room to wipe that party. I do enjoy tanking on druid. I think it was probably at its best in BC but it works better than most think in vanilla as well.
@nickrichards47736 жыл бұрын
people hate healing because its the hardest role to play, dps just follow rotaion kill adds dodge this hit boss repeat, tanks just stand there and in current content like uldir just stand there and literally do nothing for 20-30 secs at a time then taunt. healing however there is no set rotation you need to be able to judge what spell to cast on who and when, who, what and when to dispell, who is the priority target and conserve mana. not only do this but also follow mechanics all while watching the raids health bars.

Once i was 5/5 spirit tap and +spirit stacked i wouldnt even shield. I would blast,sw:p,mindflay,wand and then toss renew depending on HP.. I rarely had to drink and i would grind for a few hours. This was before I got shadowform at 40.. Priest seemed way more of a breeze than my rogue was back then. I was suprised how much more resiliant I was. Another thing is you can easily heal 5 mans leveling up as shadow. You can carry some heal gear and swap out for 5 mans and be mindful of the mp5 rule and every now and then try to get killing blow to trigger spirit tap..

Playing a paladin in recent xpacs really made me want to do one in vanilla again. It was a slow-burning style, especially when leveling, but you had tons of tools at max level. And judging seals was a very cool mechanic I really miss.
@Nyarlathotep_Flagg6 жыл бұрын
Few things you should have mentioned: 1. Priest are hellish to lvl untill you get a wand, and not great after that either. You kill things half as fast as the nearby mage, and so waste much more mana. You basically kill 1-2 mobs, then you sit down to drink, because you're completely out of mana. 2. I leveled a warrior first in Vanilla, and I think the difficulties are exaggerated. Yes it is slow, but not as slow as advertised. If you do it right, if you tank when you have to get gear in instances, if you spec right, if you play right, they're considerably faster than priests overall. And significantly faster than Paladins(early), who barely have any abilities to use untill about level 20. 3. Mages can be absurd and devastating in pvp(take a gander at Vurtne for examples). And their portals are amazing, you can earn gold on making them, and you don't have to waste half an hr traveling somewhere, sometimes more(perhaps the only class that doesn't require a profession to chill out in cities and make tons of gold). Mages are also theoretically the fastest levelers, if you run a blizzard build and just farm camps. You can reach 60 in about 58-70hrs. If played right, and you aren't so unlucky about your farming spots(other players farming there) they outpace hunter. 4. Rogue's are absurd in pvp 1v1, outright devastating. You can with a little luck, insta-kill(really lock down and kill) a lvl 60 warrior, with a lvl 1 grey dagger, before they can even respond. This depends a tad on what patch we are talking, but it remains semi-true at all times either way. Your best bet facing a rogue, is the right kind of geared arms warrior, or ironically mage. Paladins can do okay, but I really would never bet on one vs a decent Rogue. 5. Shamans have the highest roof for burst damage. As proven by a particular one back in Vanilla, who proved you could chain kill, with chain lightning. Bascially every player the chain lightning hit, it killed. You could kill 5 players with it at once(it was later nerfed though, but was still pretty powerful). 6. Warlocks are fast to level, much like hunter. And you don't have to fuzz as much about your pet, and get cheap mounts for your class, just like Paladins. BUT(and this really is a giant gaping hole in the deal), Warlock's have a hellish time at 60. They have stock up on Soul Shards all time. And then you are forced to use these soul shards for the raid/group all the time. To summon people, to make soulstone's, to summon their perts, to enslave demons, to shadowburn(damage spell), to make spellstones, to make healthstones(I might be wrong about this one, but I think they required soulstones back in the day). And these soul shards fill up your bag more than hunters ammo, and quicker/pouch take up bag space for them. 7. While Priestly Dwarf's have a great ability for countering fear in raids, Humans have 10% increase to spirit. Rather significant, since Spirit works rather differently than other attributes, with an exponential increase. Makes for a hell of a lot of mana regen, which was rather significant in Vanilla. I'd say it's a toss up, as to what you should pick. They're both good for different situations. But I'd pick human, just to get that regen earlier for running dungeons(and that 10% increase to reputation, you can feel that. Perception is not that bad either, even in vanilla, assuming you're alert enough). What Dwarfs are great for though, is counter the poison of Rogue's. That is invaluable. Arms Dwarf warrior is quite possibly the best Rogue counter. On the overall, I consider this to be the ranking for race bonuses in vanilla: 1. Undead(the hands down strongest activate of all the races. Works against fear, charm and sleep, with a 2min cd) 2. Humans(the greatest amount of, and the overall most usefull racial bonuses in the game. But with a relatively weak activate. And with the majority being more focused on ease of progress. You might call the humans the "easiest" race, the one that smoothes over progress the most. But with a sligtly mediocre endgame value. On the other hand, the absolute vast majority of the game will be about that progress so... Well... Hurray for shortened reputation farming!). 3. Dwarves(slight str bonus, and 2nd best activate. 10% more armor, immune to bleed, disease and poison effects for 10 seconds). 4. Orcs(mainly for dealing damage, especially for warriors. 1-3rd strongest activate, depending upon ones perspective. Strongest burst class for Warriors. The activation is devastating for the players themselves in pvp, since it reduces the healing you recieve by 50%. Something that also makes it a tad impractical for leveling, reducing healing from such as bloodthirst, potions, first aid etc. It just for those moments when you need to hulk out, to take something down fast, or for burst damage in instances). 5. Gnome(mainly for mages, significant increase to intelligence). 6. Night Elfs(Shadowmeld is not completely useless, boosts stealth aswell. Great for running a Rogue or Druid in pvp. I'd rank this ability on par with, or slightly below perception). 7. Tauren(1-5 strongest activate, a 2sec stun. Although it is not mentioned, it takes short moment to channel this ability. Great for pvp, and certainly not useless in pve either). Tauren have the highest Stamina, and a 5% health boost. So they're the tankiest race in the game. Great for running a tanking warrior. Naxx raiders will love you adorable little horned bisons to death. 8. Trolls(3-6th strongest activation racial in the game, giving you 10-25% attack speed increase, depending on how low your health is. Good dps as hunters, with a bonus towards bows/throwing weapons).

I think he meant that they just aren’t really in demand for raids. For every raid, there’s 50 rogues willing to go. Leaders get to pick and choose. Warriors and rogues, though necessary for raids, are very much overpopulated. A good warlock, on the other hand, will be able to choose a raiding guild from a long list of guilds desperately seeking more warlocks.

I've played since vanilla and still play today. I'm interested in trying out Classic when they come out. But since the Classic servers were announced I've seen "everybody" making videos like this. This class is shit in this aspect.. this class can't do this.. this class has no use in raids.. if you play this class you have to play this race.. this class has to use this talent cookie cutter set.. this class this that class that..... all this is honestly almost enough to make me not want to play vanilla at all. You guys managed to take the awesome game with tons of options and specs and races and classes and just shit all over it and say "if you really wanna play vanilla you have these 3 ways to do it"...jesus just play what ever you want.. was vanilla truly so difficult that everything needs to be min maxed to the point that if you're priest on alliance for example you HAVE TO BE dwarf?????

I enjoyed the commentary. Brought back a lot of memories. The funny thing is, because you are often locked into one spec for raiding, you end up enjoying that spec - at least, I loved raiding as both a marks hunter and a frost mage. What was best about vanilla was the mmo aspect of the game. There was a sense of togetherness and being social and communal to achieve things. But who has the freedom these days to put in the time it took to actually enjoy playing? I'd love to level and do dungeons and raid - but it was a different life...

I remember in tbc main tanking paladin in raids was rare but an offtank paladin was always welcome..And tbh while there were the class preferences, good players could always be part of a raid no matter the spec..I was a pretty known heroic dungeon group maker in lightnings blade alliance as a warrior tank (heroics were not something to laugh about like later) and i always prefered a dps that wont die and a healer that knew how to heal over the which class was better at what. The thing that you have to keep in mind is that if you want to join content with a not-so-welcome spec, you have to be good at it. Later on at wotlk, i mained encancement shammy and was part of top raiding guilds as dps and always kept my self at 3rd-4th best dps in single target and if you learned to work on your magma totem without overaggroing, good luck to anyone trying to outdps you in aoe fights.

Your information on Druids is just plain wrong. Ferals are actually quite good for Raiding now that players know how to powershift with the wolf helmet. They won't be top DPS but i've seen them fall anywhere from top 5 to middle of the pack depending on the Ferals gear compared to the rest of the raid. You can see it for yourself on youtube if you type in Feral BWL raid. One of them is usually brought along for their Leader of the Pack buff and put with the fury warriors/rogues. Balance druids did see play towards the end of Vanilla, one per raid like the Ferals. Once the mages spec'd into fire and started rolling ignites from AQ40 to Naxx, a Balance Druid is usually brought along to provide the 3% crit to the fire mages while also providing middle of the pack DPS (roughly 600dps depending on consumables and gear) and the utility of battle res, again, you can see that if you type in Moonkin Naxxramas Raid on youtube. Even during Vanilla, one of the top guilds was bringing along a Moonkin to their progress runs purely because of the DPS increase the aura provided to the fire mages.

Boomkins were also devestating in PVP. There's a LOT of videos around of Boomkins absolutely melting EVERYTHING in pvp aside from maybe paladins. The only thing that hit harder than Starfire was Pyroblast. Myself, I was a Warrior, and I had a pocket Boomkin healer. She would moonfire rogues and ferals, and slap rejuv on me and I would shred everything in WSG. It was glorious fun. Until that one shadow priest came along and could solo the entire alliance team.
@joelwarren74576 жыл бұрын
A few notes- PVE favors ally PVP favors horde, as Class/race combos are unbalanced as hell in classic. Everything is viable in world PVP, bgs, or raiding unless you are maxing out your PVP / PVE spirit. It's devastating to your opponent when you win the fight by a war stomp or a stone form. First of all, Alliance has 20 possible race/class combos, but only 13/20 of them are useful for PVP. 1 Warrior -Human 1 Paladin -Human 2 Rogue -Human/Dwarf 2 Hunter -Nightelf/Dwarf 2 Priest -Human/Dwarf 2 Warlock -Gnome/Human 2 Mage -Gnome/Human 1 Druid -Nightelf Horde However has more PVP influenced racial abilities, and there are 18/20 Viable race/class options for PVP. In saying that, they are diverse as hell. 4 Warrior -Tauren/Orc/Undead/Troll 2 Shaman -Troll(Heal/Ranged)/Orc(melee) 3 Rogue -Orc/Troll/Undead 2 Hunter -Troll/Orc 2 Priest -Troll/Undead 2 Warlock -Orc(Command)/Undead 2 Mage -Troll/Undead 1 Druid -Tauren So these are the Combos where everything seems to work well and make sense PVP wise, from a troll with bow spec to a gnome with intellect boost, each race has a comfortable set of classes it likes over others ((like Gnome - Warrior with +15 intellect)). Anyway, I'll put a list below of the comfortable classes each race loves to align with. ALLIANCE (14) Human 6 - Warrior, Paladin, Warlock, Preist, Rogue, Mage Dwarf 4 - Warrior, Priest, Hunter, Rogue Gnome 2 - Warlock and Mage Nightelf 2 - Druid and Hunter ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HORDE (18) Orc 5 - Warrior, Shaman, Warlock, Hunter, Rogue Troll 6 - Warrior, Shaman, Priest, Hunter, Rogue, Mage Undead 5 - Warrior, Warlock, Priest, Rogue, Mage Tauren 2 - Warrior and Druid

S Tier: Hunter, Warlock - Hunter and Warlock can solo all even elites. No downtime. A Tier: Priest, Rogue, Mage - Priest is easy, Dot + Wand and Shield and never runs out of mana. Combat Rogue is by far the most powerful leveler ive played. Tons of ability to play with. Evasion should be used on cooldown same as Flurry etc. and you can handle 3-4 mobs without a problem. Also get maces they have extra % hit and learn Frist aid then Rogues will be Massacre monsters with no downtime at all. Mages are solid leveler but sit and drink a lot. The best thing is you pay nothing. B Tier: Druide, Shaman - Both have decent damage output and can heal themselfs but are just not as fast as the others. I even think that Shamans outperform Druides. C Tier: Paladin - Is one of the slowest leveler. His toolkit is just too low the dmg is not very good but has quiet good sustain. D Tier: Warrior - The slowest of all no doubt. If you are solo dont even bother playing it. Has bad defense, bad offens and you are in trouble if more than 2 mobs hit you. Drinking after every kill is normal. This is my own list and i played them all.
@zihenghe74626 жыл бұрын
I think Druid definitely much faster than Paly and Shaman as they can run faster and kill faster while leveling. they are very not gear(weapon) dependent and have very good escape. From my experience Druid is at worst A tier.
@trebah6626 жыл бұрын
izidor IMO druid is second fastest, behind hunter.
@towermonkey55636 жыл бұрын
Oh I dunno, hunter definately fastest leveler But I would say druid and lock are a toss up for 2nd place. Stack stamina on lock, sac your VW and its zero downtime grinding. Bout the same for druid though. Almost depends on which has the better gear. Definitely less micro management on druid though. It tends to be rather quick once you have a bit of gear on druid, round up 3-5 mobs and swipe the hell outta them, toss a couple heals, rinse repeat.

Snarky response: If you're DRINKING on a warrior, you're doing it very, VERY, wrong. Actual response: All these vids I see on Warriors always seem to forget two VERY important things: 1. First. Aid. Literally, the SAME thing that you mentioned for Rogues applies doubly to Warriors. Fight -> Bandage -> Fight -> Bandage -> Fight -> Eat was the method I used. The third fight may need a cooldown or two depending on how many crits you receive. 2. Once you get Intercept at ~Lv33 (Because there's no damn way you can get that entire chain done at Lv30 without a group) you can PROPERLY stance dance. And let me tell you, Charge -> Rend, Hamstring -> Zerker -> Intercept Critter was EXTREMELY viable especially in high critter zones like the Plaguelands or Feralas. I used to have a macro to target nearest critter. You could kite a mob around and take out a third of its health and only take a single hit in return. IMPROVED. REND. WAS. FANTASTIC. ...For leveling. And if you managed to get a crit on your opening hit, Deep Wounds meant you could bring the mob to HALF. Of course the second point is extremely high skill play that probably only a handful of warriors were capable (and clever enough) to pull off. I myself learned from watching another player do it in Burning Steppes, seeing him solo one of those elite dragons, on a Warrior... was awe-inspiring. Even if it did take him five minutes.

Great video. I was a hardcore player from Vanilla to early Cata, then took a hiatus for Mists and most of WoD. I really liked Legion but it's clearly so easy and user-friendly compared to what we had to deal with in the old days. I used to play every class in Vanilla/BC/Wrath and had lots of fun experiences with each, including pvp, raiding and doing those very difficult but rewarding class quests like paladin/warlock mounts etc. I enjoy the fact that you highlight a lot of very specific and important points for each class like Warriors being super gear dependent and the way old Hunter kiting used to work (jumping 360 concussive shots ftw!) I actually watched a friend of mine conquer each of the demons for that Hunter quest and I think the game needs more stuff like that. Class-specific content, not to mention strengths and weaknesses, are really appealing to me and I'm sure a number of other players. I'm just wondering if they're going to include any "conveniences" in Classic which would make the experience a bit less authentic but probably far less frustrating as well.

Lieutenant-General RopeDrink here. My first character back in vanilla was a Troll Rogue (not very common on Horde - EVERYONE was playing Undead Rogue, give or take a few Orc Rogues). I have fond memories of ZG, MC, AQ, and especially of helping a friend achieve High Warlord in BG's on his Enh-Shaman. Nothing quite like a Tauren landing 2-Handed windfury crits while decked out entirely in High Warlord gear, though PvE gear was still better overall. Many a weekend spent battling for days and days on end in Alterac Valley, or having butt-clenching WSG matches going on for an hour where both sides just want that one cap. No more of this 'resources' drivel or 'over in 5minutes' BG nonsense of today. I really can't see myself ever playing classic again despite the fact that I recognize my vanilla WoW years as some of (if not the) best time I had as a gamer when I was a whipper-snapper. I just don't see much reason to do it all over again in the present day as it just won't be quite the same when it is no longer a first-time experience and everything was so breathtaking.

As a former Vanilla Enhancement raider... I'll say this: Enhancement is blah until 30. Then you get wind fury. And you need a pretty good stock of water, but you can smash things super fast. In raids you have 0 threat control and usually have to heal for the first 15% before you can even start DPSing. But once you see wind fury procs off of windfury procs its gorgeous.

Actually they were not as good as you think or remember. Yes, if you proc Windfury, and if you crit with all of those hits, you could potentially one-shot cloth wearers if you were very geared and they were not. But you basically had to have the stars aligned for that to happen. Most of the time you will get kited, run oom or and just auto attack with the occasional shock here and there. Still fun as fuck though :)

In 1.12, which is what most privates I've seen, and what Classic official will run, Druids are fine tanks and physical dps and Paladins can spec Ret and tank as well, although they lack tiered set gear for tanking. 1.12 patch is post-hybrid talent tree buffs. Yah, I remember when I was playing a Warrior (got it to 60) I spent a lot of time teamed up with a priest. It was easy to do dungeons because we just had to get 3 warm bodies to join us.

mages were pro if you had engi, if you dident good luck even with good skills, sure you'd do fine but never dominate vs certain classes. Engineering is where the key to succes is ;) coming from a general vanilla mage

I raided on the server Muradin as a main tank and we would clear MC, Ony and ZG weekly and my off tank was a druid. It's definitely doable and it was a great time in my life when I look back.

Played Resto Druid at 60, cleared everything but Naxx. Had a single Feral Druid in our guild we geared out he was always near the top of DPS. Loved my class and Level 60, 40 man raids. Tanked Everything at level 70 though. Was a prime time for Feral Druids, doing 34k damage in one hit in PVP too.

"The good thing about vanilla is that there is so many options"...meanwhile every class has 1 viable spec if they are lucky.
@DrathamusGaming6 жыл бұрын
There's 40 spots in a raid, and raids back then weren't balanced for today's gamer's knowledge. So even if something isn't "meta" it sure can be made to work as there's just so much wiggle room in raids.

Nobody wants to be an utterly shit dps that can barely make it work... everyone wants to be the best dps not the worst.

Not true, your PvP specs are entirely different from your PvE specs. It's idiots like you that always think they know what they're talking about that ruin shit.
@jonnnney6 жыл бұрын
1 viable talent tree =/= one viable spec. It is more accurate to say that most classes had one viable role in the raid. The raids needed around 4-5 tanks 14-15 heals and the rest dps that generally meant that the warriors needed to tank and all the classes capable of healing needed to heal. The off tanks would dps on simpler fight. The main exception to this was shamans who could take a melee or ranged dps slot because their better totems would buff the a melee or caster group.

I remember absolutely despising Warriors in the vanilla late game, because they all had a colossal chip on their shoulder due to knowing how vital they are being THE tank class and them being the lead dev’s pet class. Anytime any other class got decent tanking ability they would throw a huge tantrum until it was nerfed. Not sad to see a lot of them piss off in the expansions.

The hard truth no one ever wants to swallow is that 99.999% of people that try classic will never, EVER see 60. And if they do? They won't have the gumption to get the gold and gear and mats to raid. So play whatever you want. You'll have a blast while you do and then you'll roll another. That's the beauty of classic.

"30-50% of all character are warriors" like cmon. Checking statistics to actually provice meaningful data isn't hard. This is so misguiding for new players.

@Reign1236 жыл бұрын
I never said or suggested such a thing. But as you can see this is completely different discussion whenever actual server statistics are mentioned. Making a decision based on a vague guess is a terrible idea and since David Stewart put effort to make 30 min video I don't understand such simple mistake. On other note: tanking in vanilla is arguable the most difficult role and hence even tho there are a lot of warrior if you put effort in understanding the class you can quiet easily find a place in a guild. Escially since some fights require multiple tanks a OT is a good aim for newbie players.

9 classes and warrior makes up 34%? So that leaves 66% / 8 = the other 8 classes only make up 8.25% each? That doesnt sound right, especially when you can never find a tank for a dungeon.

Pretty spot on. There are places for feral druids though. One feral druid is good to have to buff the raid with LOTP and powershifting can do great dps! Two is fine if they know what they are doing. (Have them prove to you that they can dps.) Having a few skilled druids as feral who can cat dps and offtank when needed is nice in some raid fights.
@SordMasta6 жыл бұрын
You wanna PvP? pick Horde as they had far superior racials, and Shamans. If you must PvP as Alliance pick Gnome. If you wanna be a PvP Healer, Druid by far. And never Priest. If you wanna be a PvP Tank, Druid again. Also, pick Engineering. Or if you play a Rogue, consider Herbalism. For a PvE Tank, mostly Warrior, Tauren/Nightelf. If you're an Alliance Priest, make sure to be a Dwarf, very important.
@chipmanman16 жыл бұрын
I played paladin in vanilla and they really didn't lag that far behind shamans in pvp. I think overall that druids just outshined paladins so hard in bgs though. The speed, the tankiness, the burst healing... the only thing left that paladin did better was give someone -else- blessing of freedom. The OPOP preventative spells like BOP aand bubble made people drop the flag and stopped physical damage of allies completely. With that said, I don't know how shamans compared to druids.
