Yay another video from Jodie! I do TBR jars, but I don't put prompts in them. I have a jar for my 24 books to read in 2024, 1 for special editions, 1 for BOTM, 1 for soft DNFs, & 1 that just has a shelf number written on each piece of paper. I want to read a wide variety and get my physical TBR down.

💕 I love the idea of a TBR jar, I have so many books that I want to read and can't prioritise them, so a jar would help. I have TBR cards which I started using, they are illumicrate ones and I picked 10 of them and wrote them in my notes app and have them alongside what I am mood reading 💕

I don’t have a TBR jar, but I do use a spin the wheel app to pick books sometimes. Not so much lately because I’ve been mood reading. I find making TBRs to be really fun, but I have a hard time following through with them.

Enjoying spice does not make someone a p*rn addict and asking for the spice content level in a romance novel is a very valid evaluative question to ask

I don't mind spice in a book so don't get me wrong, I don't think it's inherently bad, but I agree to disagree within the context of BookTok and BookTube. I think there's a normal and healthy enjoyment of spice that allows women to explore their sexuality in a way that isn't as taboo to consume as traditional forms of adult entertainment, and then there's 🌶👀 spice 👀🌶 discourse. If you are hounding content creators for "spice ratings", rating YA literature poorly because there isn't enough (or any) spice, or are genuinely frustrated when books don't contain heavy smut and can't read anything without smut, I think there may be a problem there.
