Most of it is due to the city’s restrictions on licenses for food carts & the exorbitant fees for licenses.

I remember getting Piraguas in the streets of Brooklyn. There was always something about watching the old man scraping the ice, shaping it into a cone, and pouring your flavor over it. I miss being a kid in Brooklyn…I really do

They still sell them in sunset park Brooklyn if you want to stop by in the summer

@@ademes889 I don’t see them up here in East New York. Not the piraguas. I just might do that. I’ve always liked Sunset Park…why not.😀👍

Well, everyone has to compete now with all these illegal immigrants. When 1 vendor sold hotdogs on a corner for 20 years now has 5 other illegal vendors selling churros, fruit cups, stolen food, etc. on the same block for half the price because they dont pay for permits or taxes.

They have more or less migrate outwards into the outer boroughs, especially outside train stations. Food trucks of various varieties have been popping up more over the decades.

Look at those pretzels....they look like shit. No wonder they're disappearing. They were a nickel back in the late 50's and looked superior to the frozen crap they pedal these days.

The reporter Ms. Young is so right now that there are too many choices--what kind of aloli and protein do I put in my rice bowl? Just get a sandwich or a hot dog and a drink and be done with it!
