definitely build a new camper with toilet & shower, fully winterized, maybe a wood stove as well, bigger fridge & freezer so you're able to go wherever you want to go without worrying about weather, showers, etc.

I'd recommend building out the van, this way you can make it more efficient and add in the things you like and remove the things you don't like. This could also be where you get something more capable of getting you into a more "adventurous" areas, and you'd also have a new engine/transmission which could be painful to replace in your current model. Then take the new van to Mexico to break it in!

I love the Pacific Northwest, big Twin Peaks fan etc. You and Millie are one of my favourite KZbinrs. I live in Essex England. I’m now 40 years old, last went abroad when I was 12. I’ve seen very little of this world. I was a carer for my dad who passed away in 2020, and now I’m a carer for my Mum. I’m always at home. These videos are my escape, outside of hobbies. Even if I can’t travel myself I can at least see through someone else’s eyes. Thank you.

Hi Trent. Glad to see your exploring my area. Those tree’s you see on the beach are actually “naturally” placed. There are cliffs along the entire PNW coast that slowly erode and drop the them into the ocean. If you ever camp near the beach, it sounds like a cannon going off when a new one washes ashore. Come by again and I guarantee the tree’s will be piled into a new pattern. The ocean constantly repositions them.

I'm originally from Edmonds, Washington. I remember visiting Forks as a child. They used to have a giant wooden fork that said Welcome to Forks. Of course, that was over 50 years ago so I don't think it's still there. I'm so proud to be from such a beautiful state! Enjoy your visit Trent!

Welcome to the OP! Am glad you had fairly decent weather in Forks. When Stephenie Meyer was a-googling for a location for her book, she looked for the place with the most rainfall in the US.

Good video. I'm just a couple hours south of Forks so have been there many times. I think most locals in Forks have pretty much stopped talking about Twilight at least ten years ago. In fact, it's been beaten to death so much that many residents now have built sort of a resentment toward it. You're really seeing the few remaining references that exist and still pulling a few dollars. You're right though. People in Forks are largely very friendly.

I think all this time on the road has probably given you plenty ideas for what the next rig needs. There are some insane layouts out there. You could heat water with your engine using a heat exganger for hot water without an electric heater. You could tap into your diesel tank and rig up a diesel heater (with propper exhause). You could mount a mini split air conditioner with the outer unit under the van. Mini splits are the most power efficient ACs and could run on batteries easily, for hot weather adventures. People keep coming up with more and more unique things like folding showers that take up no space until you need them and bed lifts so you can use the space below. A new build could address any issues you currently have doing vanlife full time.

Just a tip, always park reverse towards the beaches. The wind blows all the salty humidity into the engine bay. Its not a big deal if you wash your engine bay often, but if you go to the beach a lot, it can help a great deal to prevent corrosion.
