Weird about the water 💦. Wicking down the straps? But that’s a LOT of water for that. Maybe check the roof seals 😢. Have you sprayed the cover & straps with tent waterproofing? Might repel the water before it gets absorbed & wicked. 🤷🏼‍♀️

How did it get in? I think the straps worked as wicks and sucked the water inside as far as it would go then dripped on your gear stick and mat. I don’t think you can use the face mask in the rain in the future.

I'd personally be highly shocked if all that water wicked it's way through the strap. I use something very similar and never once have I had water leak into my vehicle. I'd take the roof back off and hope that it just wasn't sealed properly.

Matthew,try throwing all your mats in the washer on delicate,I wash and dry mine all the time,if they come out ok great,if not you were going to buy new anyway.

Matthew do not want to be a negative nelly but as a trauma nurse I cannot tell you the number of injuries to the head caused by stuff not tightened down. A simple net with all things fastened under would I assure you keep your little one safe. Injuries remain the number one cause of children at least in the US.

if one of the mask bands were twisted it may have let enough water in to accumulate over a good storm, just try to make sure they are all flat next time and all single layer going through weather stripping see if that helps

If the straps on that Jeep mask are a similar material to that of the ones on your backpack, the water can travel along the strap into the Jeep, completely bypassing the weather seal.

I have a strap on kayak carrier that does the same thing. The straps run through the doors and across the interior of the car. When it rains, the water soaks those straps and the water then drips onto your seats. Solution? Don’t leave the carrier strapped on in. The rain :/
