Great video. I watched a lot of reviews on the Vanmoof X3 and this is by far the best. You actually explain things! All the other "reviews" just play like long commercials.

Thanks C. I really appreciate the comment and this video is the most viewed on the channel. I think viewers appreciate it by liking and watching to the end. The KZbin algorithm is happy and shows it to more people. Lots of interest in Vanmoof too.

Great review Derek. Coincidentally I tied my bike next to one of these yesterday. It's hard to find the make on the bike itself, particularly when the alarm warns! Very sleek design and instantly recognisable.

Thanks Brian. It's far from perfect but getting an overall positive reaction from viewers. The branding is subtle alright but as you say, the design is now recognisable.

Nice video and great to get one on the X3 for a change. In the process of buying myself and should point out that the VanMoof maintenance warranty isn't currently available in Dublin, just the theft warranty. Oh, and VanMoof rhymes with loaf ;)

Thanks for the comment! It was a little small for me but a lot of people are happy I covered it in the review. Good to know re the maintenance warranty. I will pronounce it correctly when I review the S3. I appreciate the clarification.

True and VanMoof are generally quite hard to repair due to very very specific, custom OEM parts.
@pauldenney79084 жыл бұрын
I think as a get about town and commute bike it would be great but for more serious use you need interchangeable batteries, a crank motor, a wider range of gears and more ability to use after market accessories. Would I buy one? Yes if I had a specific need for one but my job is work from home now and my bike is just for fun and touring. In a big city though something like this is a no brainer.
@NevoEVReviewIreland4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment Paul and also for subscribing to the channel. I also agree with your thoughts on it could be the perfect commuter bike but for more serious riders out there who like more customisation, this may not cut the mustard.

The automatic transmission sucks. After 150 mi of use, my S3 is essentially unrideable due to shifting problems. Otherwise, yeah, nice bike. They need to get rid of the stupid horn button and add a manual shifter mode in the next generation or else they are destined to become the Yugo of Ebikes.

@NevoEVReviewIreland3 жыл бұрын
Great question Arvind. Yes, if the battery runs out it becomes a regular bike. It will be a little heavier than a normal bike for pedaling and gear will be fixed. You can now also have a battery extender.

thanks for this video. i recently just heard of this brand and started googling and arrived at your videos and some others. it's really informative. i ride a specialized road bike to work and recreationally but i think i need to take care of it a bit more and can't expect to use it rain and shine throughout the year. so i'm out looking for a "true" commuting bike. one that helps with grocery run and getting myself to work the help of the electric boost. this bike here really does check most of the boxes especially about bike security-that's what im scared of the most. im almost sold but there's 2 things thats keeping me from purchasing it...1 is that it doesn't have a throttle option and the 2nd is..i believe that for repairs i need to take this bike into a specified bike shop for this brand which is quite scarce in the states. do you know if it's possible to mod this bike to give a throttle option?
@NevoEVReviewIreland2 жыл бұрын
Hi Shuyu. Thanks so much for your comment. A great bike but yes, a specific dealer would need to repair. Regarding the throttle, due to the majority of markets having legislation banning throttles, this would not be standard. I've not heard of anyone retro fitting one either sorry
@shushuyu2 жыл бұрын
@@NevoEVReviewIreland yeah, that's really a shame. the nearest vanmoof shop is 2 hours away from where i live. it's really double edged with how they design their bikes. its unique and closed without much wires popping out which adds a little more depth to security and aesthetics but at the same time..repairs for the average bike shop is out of the question aside from probably punctures or chain replacements. anything more than that is a headache. not gonna lie..i placed one on order after watching and doing more search on the bike BUT last night just thinking about the repair conundrum..and the wait time-expected delivery was all the way until 2nd half of april, i canceled lol thanks dood .

An electric bike unfortunately cannot be any more powerful in Europe due to legislation
@NevoEVReviewIreland4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment Jonathan. Potentially for the best?
@JoeDobias3 жыл бұрын
not fully true, there is 2 EU regulations, one is pedelecs which are most ebikes you see around 250W nominal (not max Wattage) motor, these go 25kmh and after its up to you. Second are s-pedelecs, this is any Wattage which is higher than 250w, but assisted speed is all the way at 45kmh, these are readily available even in Ireland. Couple downsides; cost is much higher, due to a lot of upgraded safety components mostly, and also because only Bosch provides such motor (under warranty), the other is legislation, in Germany for example it is pretty straight forward, they come under small moped legislation so you can insure them, vrt them, and use your driving license to operate them. In Ireland on other hand they laugh you out of VRT office and NCT center, insurance companies charge you as If it was a 250cc scooter, pff, so most people do not register them because its pointless and Gardai don't care. You still have to pedal the ebike anyway.

@torstenarndt40843 жыл бұрын
@@NevoEVReviewIreland Well now I feel stupid for my harsh comment. Sorry for that. Any of the methods out there is okay I guess. If I had to recommend one it would be this one, for its simplicity: Position bike next to wall, get on bike while holding on to wall to not fall over. Turn pedals so that one is at its lowest point. Put heel on low pedal while still sitting on the saddle (keep your hip level). Your knee should now be fully stretched. If not: adjust saddle accordingly. For a plethora of good videos search "GCN saddle height" on youtube; highly recommend GCN channel. BTW: I am 1,83 m, own the X3 and the saddle height can be adjusted to my height; I chose the X3, so my considerably smaller wife could use the same bike. The X3 is very versatile.
