Vanos before and after

I rebuilt my car's vanos using X8R seals. This is a before and after video of my BMW Z4 e85 3.0 doing a 0-60 run. I used a Bluetooth OBD2 reader paired with TorquePro's track recorder. It isn't the most scientific thing, but I haven't seen any other scientific before and after footage.

excellent video. My 325 has that same raspy throat sound your did before the rebuild. I have the kit in garage and we'll see how it goes tomorrow ..this is encouraging. Thanks for the meaningful video

I really appreciated seeing the gas mileage, not that you get a z4 for gas mileage. It seems to spike between shifts telling me the vanos timing changes are much faster than before.

Any tips on removing the vanos with that radiator frame support that's in the way? Only about 2 inches of space for tools...

Just got done going this job myself; it's a pain in the ass. There are two options: 1) unbolt the motor mounts and jack the engine up a few inches; 2) unbolt the four bolts (two each side) that old down the upper radiator support and put a piece of wood or pry bar against the water pump and pry the support back. This is the option I went with as you really only need about 1mm of extra clearance for the bottom left stud; all the rest of the should clear. Good luck!
