Before buying this sander I would use a rotary sander kzbin.infoUgkx3Pc2vLXfcgM5oIpF1iYcIWyFhHUC-G6v and didn't see the need for a belt sander. Boy was I wrong. this belt sander does the job quickly and gives a professional finish to the wood work.

DO pls respond if you can built me one, and send me the costing including logistics of delivery. I'm looking forward if you can accommodate me to built one,with TILTABLE PLATE TABLE and an attachment that can grind end radius for bracket use. @mardu15413 жыл бұрын
@@VanoverMachineAndRepair Not on mild steel. Mild steel won't harden, try as hard as you might. Different story tho on high carbon steels (knife blades etc). I do give it a quick lick with an angle grinder just to keep dust down on the milling machine. Great build tho mate. Designing one for myself as we speak. But honestly, I haven't stolen any ideas from yours at all... Well... Maybe just one... or three :-)

Very nice grinder build! I am 90% done one of my own very similar to yours. The last part I need to do is the belt tensioner. I don't like the spring-type or air pistons that most commercial grinders have. I've noticed the ratchet type the Beaumont KMX-TX has which I like. I see you designed a cam style but in the video you skim over it pretty fast. Do you have a sketch or more detailed video of the build on this part as I think this would be easier to built than a ratchet assy? Bill
@VanoverMachineAndRepair4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I don’t have a drawing sorry. It was tricky to make. I just worked with it until I got it. I made a cam and mounted it on a shoulder screw. I can take some photos and send them to you if you like. It works well but does have some drawbacks. Mainly that the cam doesn’t work in the middle like I hoped. When it’s fully articulated it stays in place but in the middle of the stroke it slips. If I were to do it again I might go for the ratchet style or work harder to get the cam style to work. I spent a while on it but not enough to perfect it. Also the longer video I have might provide more insight. Hope that helps thx.

Love the videos. You put a long rod in the chuck of the drill and put a drill bit in a vise. How do you decide when to do that? Why is it better than putting the long rod in the vise and drilling into it like normal?
@VanoverMachineAndRepair3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, with the workpiece spinning it helps center the hole. I have a lathe now which is the ideal use but without a lathe this technique helps you put a hole dead center in a round object
@billmacfarlane40834 жыл бұрын
I think I've watched nearly every 2 x 72 build video on KZbin, yours ranks right up there! I've got a couple of questions, if you don't mind sharing. You used a cordless DeWalt jig saw...what model was that? It seemed to work very well! What sort of tapping chuck do you use? Maybe I'm getting fooled by tape speed but it seemed way quicker that anything I've seen before. Congrats again, such an excellent machine!
@VanoverMachineAndRepair4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. The saw was a dewalt dcs331b. The chuck is not what makes it easy. I use a keyless chuck sometimes but the keyed chucks give a better grip. What makes this work well is the variable speed control (vfd) I have on my drill press so I can run the tap slow. Also gun taps (spiral point taps) work well for through holes. The taps you get at a local hardware store do not work will for this and are much more likely to break. Hope that helps. The two chucks I use are the Jacob’s keyless high torque precision chuck and the old style Jacob’s keyed chuck.

I’m in the middle of my build right now, and I just finished some prep on the exact same articulating work rest design. I am curious though, why did you decide to cut the slots with the slugger and not the portaband?
@VanoverMachineAndRepair4 жыл бұрын
Good question. I think the portaband word probably work. After looking at lots of articulating arm rests it looked to me like the spacing was around and eighth of an inch maybe a little shy. The porta band that I have has a blade that’s like 1/32 of an inch wide and I didn’t know if it would be too narrow for clamping, also I wanted a nice clean cut so it would look factory the chopsaw did a perfect job doing that.

One of the most bad ass grinder videos I've watched. This thing looks quite beastly, and you drill holes in thick plate like it's going out of style. This build definitely isn't for the faint of heart that's for sure (at least compared to some others, like the House / Work build). But if you have a couple hundred lbs of steel and aluminum lying around then this isn't a bad use for it. As I said in your drill press mag vice video, some of your fab techniques seem a bit unconventional but they seem to work out (eventually lol). Great work - Subscribed!
@VanoverMachineAndRepair4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your sub! Way to many holes lol. To many to be practical. I actually started with a weld design but had to many warping issues so I went the bolting route. It was a lot of work but it provides great serviceability if needed in the future at least that’s what I tell myself ;)
