Was this recently? How filled in is anniversary glacier? Did anyone at the hut mention conditions on matier? Thanks
@riseandalpine Жыл бұрын
Hey Graeme, this was 2 weeks ago. We did this as a day trip and didn't climb anything glaciated. We saw a group go up anniversary and a friend of a friend did Matier last weekend. They were roped up but I didn't really get any deeper intel.

Such an amazing day! At the end It was actually just a part of my pole mount that the 360 camera picked up. Had the camera on my pole instead of the proper stick so it looked funny.
@dannenjohnstone16272 жыл бұрын
Great vid as always. Really makes me want to pick up back country/touring! I have some 111 touring skis waiting to be mounted. Think that's overkill to start with for whistler/pemby area?
@riseandalpine2 жыл бұрын
Hey Dannen, You're totally chilling! I love a big heavy ski. I run 115 underfoot in the backcountry. Unless you're doing some crazy ski-mo racing it doesn't matter too much. I'd trade a better ride down for a few extra calories burned any day.
@tarfeef1012 жыл бұрын
Man I used frame bindings once and did not repeat the process. Props to suffering through the uptrack with em, I know how heavy that is :D worse than snowshoes IMO
@riseandalpine2 жыл бұрын
Thanks bro! The frame bindings are indeed a slog. Finally got some Duke PT's. Super stoked to try my first uphill with pins.
@sslaskowski Жыл бұрын
What kind of bindings do you use for your backcountry stuff? Shift or pin? Great content man!
@riseandalpine Жыл бұрын
In this video I was running Solomon Guardian frame binding with resort boots. Currently, I run Marker Duke PT's on Nordica enforcer 115's. They are pin on the uphill and convert to a full alpine certified toe piece for the downhill. Really liking this setup!
@sslaskowski Жыл бұрын
@@riseandalpine Thanks for the info. I feel like people are very divided on setups. "Don't get shifts, they suck!" and then "Pins aren't as stable for downhill!" haha. Still doing my research. I did get Scarpa Maestrales, so those are nice and light...
