@s2kirl I never yell and scream, throw rocks or bang their trucks, in return when I have something important to tell them I keep it short and sweet. I talked to him at break time and explained it further to him and included a thank you for listening but during shift it's time to move dirt! There were 2 trucks that went down so it was even more important for the drivers to try to keep downtime to a minimum.

Piss on 'em, I like the funnay yall bring, and the lesson in efficient loading technique, for those of us watching to pick up subtle techniques to increase our productivity level,we appreciate this kind of dialogue.

@erifdlog One is a small amount of money. If done every load it adds up quickly. For example in an 80 load day that's 800 seconds which works out to 13 minutes and 20 seconds which broken down to say and average load time of 2 minutes (my average for the larger trucks is actually less than that) is 7 more loads he could of had, not to mention it's probably causing other trucks to bunch up causing even more lost production. Half a second every cycle can add up to thousands of dollars a shift!

@JimBruce42 Erm what? The only issue is that he sat there waiting for the first truck to get loaded, then never pulled up in time and I had to wait for him. If you are wondering why the trucks show up at random times it's because there are two loading tools, and two different dump zones depending on how the material breaks up when we dig it.
@s2kirl13 жыл бұрын
@vantagetes Fair enough,You just came across a bit heavy the way you put it to him plus at the end of the video there wasn`t a truck to be seen...Anyway point taken.

@1toomanyhobbies Of course not, he actually uploaded this one. He was referring to the fact that it was an in cab instead of the series we shot with him holding the camera outside.

@KartAnimal29 Winter is a slow time of year. You could have got out of the truck and done something, but you also have to remember the guy in the hoe was a foreman and you're a truck driver which puts you a lot lower on the chain of command. Our companies are in the business of making money. You make them money you might get paid a little more, get a chance to be in the hoe or become a foreman one day. This is the kind of stuff that sets the men apart from the hoys.

I didn't mean that you should load more than 8 yards in the bucket, but when i drive my escavator and i have worked as a driver for 25 years i like to be productive and take care off both the escavator and the trucks or crushers. But there are not 2 drivers who work the same way.Thanks for your good videos

It sucks when the people around you don't understand, or care enough to know that when your not moving material you're not making money. Whatever task you're performing you need to be productive. It's easier to convey that point when you're the boss though.I was recently installing storm drainage, and the loader operator couldn't keep the stone box full, the laborers weren't preparing for the next length of pipe while I was digging, I was stopped all the time, and it was enough to make me sick.
@vantagetes13 жыл бұрын
@sisutrucks I save the larger rocks for truckies who forget that not only do they have to come back every time, but then they have to hold still for me ;) I can feather it in so you barely know you're getting loaded or I can bounce you off the roof. Your call!
@vantagetes13 жыл бұрын
@Dodgeoffroadfreak Are you talking about the head board or the actual cab itself? When loading with an ME setup you're always going to have bucket spillage (typically the light sand like material as it leaks between teeth and over edges) so offroad trucks have headboards to catch any roll off, and a kicker board to deflect it away from the cab. If you are actually hitting the cab itself then there's a problem.

@erifdlog Think of it this way, say you wait for 10 seconds every couple rounds. That could add up to 3 minutes in a day. If you work say... 250 days a year thats 450 minutes, which is what? 7.5hrs over the course or a year? How many trucks can you load in 7.5hrs?

@KartAnimal29 If a quick talk like that is gonna get them all pissy and hurt their feelings... then they are in the wrong industry. One of my first jobs out of college (Burnout) was with the hydro company. The foreman treated me like shit for almost 2yrs, called me names and made fun of me. He made me become a better hoe operator in a hurry and I still have a lot of respect for that old guy. It was his way and it worked. I don't go to the extreme he did, but we're not running a daycare.

I see your truck drivers are as smart as ours. I load 763 trucks with a conveyor all the time and those guys fall asleep play video games and what not why not focus on the task at hand and do the job. Production is what matters. When I was running a hoe I hated some of our truck drivers. As for videos I'd get fired I'm not even suppose to have my phone out here.
@vantagetes12 жыл бұрын
@TheTrashman249 might of taken a rock off the heavy haulers tire, or just broke from heavy vibration. If you are loading ground level sometimes a small rock falls from the bucket as you swing and bounces just right off the top edge of the greedy board and comes back at you. I've bounced one over the cab once! Rare but it happens.
@JimBruce4213 жыл бұрын

@Alifaish Actually the price difference between an 870 and 390 Cat is pretty minimal. Both companies price the machines pretty competitively. As for differences I (Alex) have found that the larger Deere hoes I have tried tend to be slower than the 385. This could be just a tuning problem though as I have run 1 850 that would definately keep pace with any 385 I have run.

@vantagetes Yeah on re-watching I caught the lapse. Sorry when I watched it the first time (and posted) I was more focused on my boy than it. Had I just re watched it, or proof-read my reply I would have avoided the confusion. I know all too well the feeling of waiting on trucks. Waiting for someone to pull up is more aggravating sometimes than waiting for trucks to return.
@vantagetes13 жыл бұрын
@johntekuiti You realize this is a 385 and not a mini dig right? If you think you can find faster load counts for a 60+ ton rock truck in unshot rock feel free to show me where the video is hiding. An ME requires a lot of moving to stay in the power and fast cycle zone of the stick. That's a 3.4m stick so I have to back up for the power to ram the 8yd bucket through the top layer then walk forward to reach the bottom of the cut. Tracking while booming down recycles hydraulic power.

Or because the bucket is actually full. It's a rock truck not a on road, spilling is allowed. In material like this the hoe wouldn't handle anything larger than an 8yd bucket.
@vantagetes12 жыл бұрын
@TheTrashman249 he said ok, the last window licker they had on the hoe had them wait until he had a bucket hanging in the air. The other drivers worked with me before and knew to pull up when I'm digging so we aren't wasting time.

@swn02 Ah but taking the few second to talk to him insured it didn't happen again during the shift, which saved minutes and hundreds of dollars. Vantegetes, You have some good stuff, but 1. why go to bottom of cut all the time, wasting fuel not getting some of your material up high, and 2.why do you usually fill one side of bucket first? I understand you don't want to dig where it will spill by the trucks but you could fill the bucket evenly digging the highest part of cut first and work your way down.
@godackgudalach113 жыл бұрын
I have an 18 foot wide bucket and have to load over side all the time on 777 belly dumps. If those truck drivers dont chase my bucket in and haul ass every load it adds up. 30 seconds for 50 loads is twenty five minutes and i load em up in 3.40 minutes thats alot of loads lost in a ten hour shift and its my ass... I pissed off at truck drivers when i know they know better.

@KartAnimal29 I (Burnout) personally own my own iron. If I was to see someone in my organization making me a little extra money and watching out for my bottom line I'll take care of him come end of the year. The people that generally bitch about this stuff are the people that don't care and will be working this "job" their entire life. While people like us make it into a "career" and reap the benefits.

I don't think it's the point of exactly how much was lost in that time he was waiting. If that was the concern he technically spent more time telling him not to make him wait then he waited. It's just the fact that now the guy knows and if not its fired time. Also after so many times in one day waiting just that little bit will add up to the load time of a truck when such a big hoe is loading in so few passes. Keep up the good informing vids!
