PEI VAN LIFE: 🚴Confederation Trail ➕ Waterfront Site

In this video, we'll be exploring two segments of the Confederation Trail on Prince Edward Island. The trail is a great way to see some of the best scenery on the island, and it's also a great way to get some exercise. We'll be boondocking on the waterfront, and we'll share how we handle the Van Life routine of morning constitutions.

You were able to witness some of the destruction of the trees along the trail due to hurricane Fiona. Volunteers worked hard to clear and rebuild trails across the Island..

Hey Owen, don't mean to stick my nose where it doesn't belong, but I noticed something where you and Lynn seem to differ and, I'll be honest, I'm with Lynn on this. You know, Crocs are not supposed to be good for your feet. You seem to always be in them and Lynn always wears athletic shoes which do support the foot. Crocs offer no support. I'd hate to see you twist an ankle or something. Glad you're enjoying your new bike. Are you concerned about getting parts/support when you're home?

Yes, I know. 😂 I meant to just wear them when it was rainy or when I was driving. I find it more comfortable on my heel to drive with Crocs and when we get somewhere my plan is to switch to better shoes. But I only have room for 2 pairs of shoes out all the time... so as much as it rained and as much as we drove the Crocs were one of them. The other pair was waterproof hiking shoes with tons of support and they're just not that comfortable, not like everyday athletic shoes. Guess what you saw is the outcome of me being practical and lazy and the fact that for a month it seemed to rain just about every day. But I need to do better and thanks for calling me out on it. So about parts for the eBike?... We've had no issues getting parts shipped to us while at home from Rad. It's when you're in a remote area like the woods of Canada that it becomes difficult. They would ship something but they would not let us know how long it would take to ship or how long it would take to get to the location we chose and they would not expedite either the warehouse or shipping for us. Not being able to talk on the phone for support is common these days but when you need it, it sucks to have to communicate and plan via email. As for the Wolff we bought it because it's carried and sold at actual brick and mortar bike shops, both in US and Canada. There's a dealer that supports, sells and repairs the bike that is 30 miles from our NC home as well as many all over the US just like that. When you're travelling that is a plus for sure. They cost a little more than the web-based sell and support bikes but not having repairs available at real shops has bitten us many times with the Rads.

Dump stations, vault toilets, porta potties, basically anywhere there is a toliet within reason.

Hi. I just bought my first ebike. It seems like every time I look up a trail on the internet it says "no motorized vehicles" or "class 1 ebikes only". Do you find better trails, or do you ignore the warning? Have you ever been fined or gotten in trouble? I'm 60 and just want to pedal on down the path.

We have never been fined or had any issues. I don’t consider e-bikes to be motorized, that might be incorrect. We probably would not go if it was clearly stated no e-bikes.

Yes all the time. Maybe even more than the DJI. We throw it up while riding bikes and hiking and we've started using it to show the campsite when we get setup. Works great. Has a few issues that it took a while to figure out how to best use it but for what we use it for its perfect.

You said you put the new bike in the rack alone. How much lighter is the new bike compared to the Rad bike? I have not been interested in an electric bike because of the weight.

We have Specialized Turbo Vado SL ebikes that are 33 pounds. Cannondale makes an E bike that is 39 pounds.
