I installed this on my 2018 Yamaha VMax and absolutely love it!!! The mounting and wiring I did was masterful and the bike looks stock!! LOVE IT!!!

Many thanks for the video and for all the effort you’ve putting in. One thing to note with the remote control unit is that it is the GPS antenna as well as a remote. The manual states that it should be facing ‘buttons up’ to attain maximum satellite signal so where you have it at the moment, may hinder the performance. Just trying to help out and again many thanks for your excellent videos.

That's a fair point which now I do remember reading but completely forgot was a thing for the video! One of the issues of not scripting things I suppose 😂 That said I haven't had any issues with GPS I've seen so far thankfully, but definitely worth pointing out for anyone who might try hide the controller somewhere! I know you are creating an update but does your rear view camera playback recording show you on the wrong side of the road like mine? Also, the rear view recordings show number plates back to front wording? I have changed the ‘Rear Mirror’ setting but it’s doesn’t do any… Thanks.

I'll hopefully have that video done this week to release next week. My rear view shows me in the correct lane as the camera is orientated, so I appear in the left lane say but moving away. It correct anyway! I can't check rear view plates as cars don't have front plates here, is the camera definitely not mounted upside down or anything?

Thinking about installing this onto my r7. It seems like a straight forward install, but i was wondering how did you wire it to start up when turning the key? Or do you you have to start it up manually with a button after you turn the key to the on position?

I have it linked to the ignition, it's never drained the battery. I gave some recommendations in the video on power boxes that I personally prefer to splicing wires. But you can also just wire to an ignition wire.

In todays environment, dash cams are a bit of a necessity. I have family members that have them on all vehicles. Even more useful when you have young drivers in the family.

Yep, I used to just use my gopro or 360 camera for years as a dash cam as you just can't trust people commuting. You too!

A dashcam is a must IMO. I have a Drift XL which I only use as a dashcam on my crash hat. No wires, 9 hour battery life, dashcam mode with variable loop (I selected 5mins), event log and a reasonable price. Downside is no rear view cam and I have to remember to charge it! The idea of having a fixed set up with front and rear cams and no need to charge the units is appealing. One question, can you/how do you manually capture an event? Um, like a close pass where the g sensor doesn't react and you want to make sure the 5min isn't overwritten. Good vid, cheers, Andy.

Just with everyone being blind and fond of suing these days I agree. Yeah to be fair that's an excellent solution if you don't want to go running wires and such! I will say having it just set there and it does it's own thing it's very nice! You can press the camera button on the controller and it's save x amount of the footage and the previous x is also settable I think. I've tested it and it works well. Thanks Andy!

will i run into any problems when i connect both wires to switched ignition ? i have a really drain sensible bike and dont want to use anything on battery+ as i understand you did it like that with that box you have ? also i dont find anything specifc in other comments since my language skills are not that high and am i loosing any function by doing that, like why does it even have b+ and switched

No that's basically what I've done but just through the power box thing. It has them both for options, the power draw is not very small so it's better to have the + and switched live ideally. If you don't have a power box then I would recommend going + to battery and the switched wire to a switched ignition

Would I use a dash cam. If I was commuting either in a car or on a bike definitely. I think a lot depends on where you live and ride. If I was in a big city I would have one now. I am thinking of getting one in the near future but have never felt the need for one. This coming from an old bloke who used to commute through Dublin city centre on an RD350 in the 70's😅

Yeah I probably wouldn't ever bother with one if I didn't commute, that's generally when people do silly goose things. Haha I know there was a few times in Cork one would have been brilliant, people opening doors on you and such would have been nice to capture!! Haha that's a nice way to commute!

Curious about how you feel a few months on. I thought the"Number Plates" in the settings is to put your plate info for having your plate at the bottom of your video like your speed, not for plate recognition.

I've been using mine for a couple of weeks and I'm very happy with the results. The only complaint I have is the sound recording has a lot of wind noise. I'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion on how to reduce the wind noise picked up by the microphone. I have the switch/microphone mounted on the backside (facing the rider) of the brake fluid box similar to the way you did but facing the rider.

Yeah the mic isn't the greatest for wind, I thought it'd be more my placement. You could get some mic foam to protect from the wind and stick it on there, that should help a lot.

Nah I cable tied it under there, but it's been essentially loose for 15k miles now yes, didn't have anywhere I could hard mount it nicely.

I love the idea of a dashcam. If I commuted on a motorcycle I would get one of those. My question is, can you turn off the voice output. It seems kind of annoying but the benefits outweigh the minor annoyance, that's for sure.

Cables are way too long for a motorcycle. Choice is either 1 ft. if you don't use the extension cables, or 11 ft. if you do. I need like 3 ft. extension cables, not 10 ft. Lots of cable to bury. The remote control cable is BIG! No shorter cables available. I may figure something out.. kinda pissed.

Yeah I did give them feedback on that but never heard anything back, I believe I mention it in this vid also as it is not ideal, luckily the Vstrom had plenty of space to wrap them up and tuck them away but it is a lot of cable that can't be cut and shortened sadly.

The internet carrying this garbage around the world. Everybody filming everybody else, as well as themselves. Where did privacy go? So far so good but I have a few comments :) Haha you most certainly can! However sadly privacy IS gone, I don't think that's a good thing but I think I'd be a hypocrite to say anything on videos as I make these ones. I do think over sharing certainly happens, not something I partake in. Dash cams are very good seeing as how expensive everything is now and how you can have your life ruined by one RTA with people willing to screw you, I learned that the hard way and if I'd had a camera at the time it wouldn't have been an issue.
