Morning Ladies....old gay here. Bought my house about 25 years ago and it's 180 year old country school that was moved onto this property in 1965 from about 40 miles away. Before it was moved here it was used as a square dance hall -- I even met some people at one of my former jobs that actually use to dance in my house at its previous location. ANYHOW, four years ago this month I kicked off a home remodel (it's been slow because I am disabled and fixed income/why I am still at it) ... I..... no kidding here, vacuumed over 50 pounds of rodent droppings from the rafters above my kitchen/ formally the school class room -- between floors would've been the upstairs where the teacher slept/my bedroom. The shock of seeing the amount of crap that I seen was astonishing..... Squirrels had even lived in here and had spots where they had packed corn. It sure look better these days.

FYI, the cans, like the one the glue comes in, pull up on the cap, before you screw it off, and the plastic kinda unfolds and makes a short pour spout. Makes pouring the contents, less messy.

Bring the merch ladies. We are moving into Spring - well not yet - here in Australia. It is still cold ( between 4 and 22 deg C on a day) in our area. - yes we call that cold lol Alpacas are fleeced up and in a month the'll be shorn. Everyone is predicting a bad summer this year. 40C plus, dry, no rain. We installed a 90,000 ltr tank 3 years ago but it's a struggle to keep it full. Fires are a worry and we have had about 6 of them in our area already - and it's not the end of winter !!!! Love what your doing !!!! It takes commitment.

My house (a 100+ year old colonial in New England!) was also missing flashing and needed siding replaced. It was just a tiny section, and caused a BUNCH of rot in the rim joist beneath it. A total relief to have that fixed. I used a little sliver of blueskin for it, but I can't imagine blueskinning a whole building haha. I guess I'll find out what that's like once I finally re-side my barn...

You look to have everything thought out and going pretty smoothly but for those who are thinking of taking on similar projects there's one channel I like more than others. The Build Show channel has lots of videos on siding, dealing with water (they like big overhangs), and getting air circulation behind the siding to help it dry out quickly (no rot), and keeping the bugs and other critters out. They're based down south but have done shows highlighting Canadian builds and go into details on different building codes and (my favorite) innovations in products and construction techniques.

How exciting to be finally putting the siding up. It is going to be completely transformational. I have an idea for you for a future project (as if you need any more projects...lol)...Wouldn't it be really fun to build a fire tower; something you could go up to the height of just above the top of the treeline and watch the sunsets from? You gave me the idea when you said how few sunsets you are actually able to see. This way you would get to see both sunrises and/or sunsets each and every day if you liked. It would also be epic if it had a spiral slide that you could get down from the top to the bottom zippity-quick-like (my made-up word for lighting fast)! Speaking of zippity...you could also do a zip-line from the top of the tower straight down to the cabin instead since those spiral slides are rather pricey. (or, you could direct it to any water you may have on your property so you just let go of the zip line when you are over the water.)

Not a home builder here so asking this question as a complete novice. If the existing siding is rotting why didn’t you completely remove it? Why put a waterproof membrane on top of rotting siding? Are you just saving time by not removing the old siding? This absolutely perplexes me.

Really good of you to research re: blue skin and.....bravo for paying attention to around the holes in the walls for electrical....ship lapping your blue skin! It is simple but some people do not pay attention. An airtight building is a bit more important to just R value, or thermo layers on the outside. So well done ladies! 👍💯👷‍♀💪🪜

Chrystal has do what will make her happy, Maybe the two of you will come up with a plan, that both of you do what interests you, separately, and you come back together 2 to 3 times a year to re -connect, talk about travels, and help on future plans. Can definitely feel the change in the relationship. Fully understandable, It was a crazy thought that started the whole journey, but now, the thoughts, drives, and desires have grown. Jazmyn; just a suggestion, when you are Finished applying the glue on the side you are working on, remove the roller tube from the pole so it wont be glued to it and you can put on a new roller brush easier❤😊
