People cringed at the genre back in the 2010s when it was invented, but it has been increasingly popular since the creation of TikTok. For a while the only Rap I liked was old school Rap like Eminem, Lil Jon, & N.W.A., but since 2020 I have loved Emo Rap. I don't like it as much as lofi but it's definitely one of my favorites. Almost everyone from high school likes Emo Rap & most of their favorite rappers I don't like but there are a few favorites we have in common. Lil Peep, XXXTENTACION, Juice WRLD, & Powfu. Most of the students probably aren't edgy enough to be into Corpse, Scarlxrd, Ghostemane, or IC3PEAK. That's the hardcore side of Emo Rap. The diversity of Rap has grown immensely over the past few years mainly because of Emo Rap & it's a great way of bringing my generation together.

My dad used to tell me all about this song. He said when he was young, it would play on his local city radio and it was moderately popular, for like about a month or two (cuz Weekend hadn't shot up in popularity yet, this was back when he was still calling himself Day Boy). They even played it at my dad's hs prom, a few months before he started dating my mom. But the song fell off pretty quick, and Day Boy was going through his infamous "What days specifically?" name-changing phase, so that took a lot of attention away. Then Christopher Goggins wanted to feature it in the classic 1988 movie "Birdsplash", which then boosted the song so much it had a resurgence on the top 100 charts for that entire year! Everyone's seen the movie and knows it from there, but it's fun to know where it originally came from!
