This is my Vaquero bridle horse, and I trained him using the traditional Vaquero methods. He was given to me for free, and no one else wanted him because he didn't have a good blood line or conformation. Good horsemanship can overcome a lot of things!

I don't see the need for criticism here. This man has a wonderful, "light" touch--softl hands, balance and communication. He's not performing to NRCHA standards. He's demonstrating Vaquero horsemanship. Plus, I LOVE that he took this horse who no one else wanted and turned him into a star. I'd like to see him at the Western states Horse Expo. He'd be amazing! Thanks, Carson. I LOVED your demonstration!

@@David-hj8nq So the beautifully-choreographed performances by the Spanish Riding School (which, incidentally, teaches dressage) is just "fancy princess riding"? Yes, this horse could work cows and do other "cowboy" stuff, but high level dressage is the ultimate in horsemanship. The horse and rider are so in tune with each other that you see them as "one." Perhaps it's just too subtle for you. I can understand that. But it takes years of training and serious communication to achieve Grand Prix status.

I also rescued my colt and have a very close partner bond relationship and love how Carsons philosophy stands out in all his videos. Once you really see your horse not for the colour he is or the papers he has or hasn't it's a game changer. Since I started following Carsons horsemanship philosophy Ive see a huge change in my Horse but also in myself. It's like Carson opens your eyes to what is right in front of you the whole time. From the bottom of my heart thank you Carson for giving me that connection with my horse.

You've done a great job Carson James and it is important for folks to know about the need for saving those horses headed for slaughter. I personally don't get all the emphasis on "spinning", it looks hard on their bodies/legs, but I do see a great partnership which to me is the most important thing. Well done!

Papers don't impress me much. Yes it's cool to know the pedigree history but it's what's in the eyes and heart of a horse that I look for. Rescues are more often than not the best. TLC and proper horsemanship is sometimes all that is needed. Your horse hit the jackpot when he was chosen by you. Praying for many happy trails for you both.

Earlier today, I was watching Rick gore horsemanship, and was disgusted. I saw the thumbnail of one of carsons videos, and saw someone with a flat brim hat, and I had to click. I thought to myself "this guy is some wannabe buckaroo or the real deal" and we have Buck Brannaman Jr. buckeroo vaquero over here. Keep up the good work!

I agreed with everything you said until I read the Buck Brannaman Jr. part. I think Carson is better (in my opinion) and exudes far more humility than Buck! I don't know who appointed buck the 'model' and 'spokesman' of the Buckaroo world, but I'd rather watch the likes of Carson James, Jeff Sanders, Martin Black and Dave & Gwyn Weaver. Just my thoughts.

Lovely horse. All in the eye of the beholder isn't it? I am sure he was warmed up properly before doing this and also conditioned and muscled up. This is some very athletic work and many horses are pushed into it to too fast. I understand that many 'reining' horses are finished at 5 or 6 due to the stress put on them. To me that is just another form of abuse.
@furyxvanity2946
@furyxvanity2946 Жыл бұрын
Vaquero horses are mostly only finished when there about 10, takes about 5 years for the whole riding process, but you spend years on conditioning horses slowly and building muscle, it takes alot of strength to be able to do any of this and thats something we don't forget, this is why it takes sometimes even 6 7 years until your finished, the Vaqeuro tradition is about taking your time to get a good horse.

Something I don't understand about Vaquero horsemanship------------why go from various sizes of hackamore to a bit when the horse can do all required activities in a hackamore. Yes, I understand about tradition. If the horse can do it all in a hackamore, then break tradition, and stop with the hackamore in the training process.

this is some kind of mexican vaquero imitation but vaqueros do not hold the reins that way. The mexican vaquero holds the reins differently than other riders of the world because the mexican vaqueros invented the saddle horn and all the roping techniques. For this reason the vaquero holds the reins with the palm of the hand upwards not downwards as this rider does. When the mexican vaquero holds the reins with the palm upwards, he can have his lazo placed on the palm of the hand
