The Varang Lux by Sarmat Archery:
A medieval European Longbow style, which I can see myself shooting quite a bit. You can play around with various draw lenght and shooting techniques. A very good all rounder which looks great. And the price is just awesome. And the bow does 34"
sarmatarchery....

Another Sarmat Archery review, nice. I just bought the 68inch Hankyu with some Kyudo style arrows. Super hyped for it....I also bought a Ming Kaiyuan bc why not, I like the way it looks. 4 of my 5 bows are because of your videos. I'd wager a lot of business for companies is thriving because of you and your excellent reviews. Not really a English longbow guy, but this is a nice, simple bow. It looks like the kind of bow you'd see in paintings. A bow made right from the wood laying on the ground, then strung. Great review.

@@ArminHirmer Honestly, I'm not gonna act like i know the deals behind the scenes. Maybe they send you bows to keep as payment or whatever. But I think all the bowyers who have repeated features on the channel should offer the Armin10 code, with that 10% off being given to you. Hypothetically, buy an AF bow for 300, use code save 30$ for the costumer, Armin gets 30$ for his(your) code being used. Maybe that's how it works already, I don't know the behind the scenes. But I do think it's safe to say you are singleheadedly making a lot of bowyers money. If people wanna know about what Asiatic bow to buy and what company, your channel is the channel they go to.

If you're shooting wooden arrows, then it really is important that you shoot with the cock feather on the outside. Wooden arrows usually have some grain runoff and if they break during launch, they'll break along that grain. If the arrow snaps during launch and the cock feather is on the outside, as long as the arrow has been made correctly, the sharp shards of wood will break away from your hand whereas if the shaft breaks and the cock feather is on the inside, those sharp shards will break toward and possibly be driven into your hand. From what I've heard from people that has happened to, you really don't want to get wood driven into your hand (or any other part of your body) because wood won't show up in an X-ray and it's difficult for surgeons to be sure they've gotten it all out of you (also, it hurts and can do serious permanent damage to your hand).
@UTxTheArchangel
@UTxTheArchangel 3 жыл бұрын
You must be new to Armin videos, he stats it a lot that he doesn't care about cock feather location when shooting. For him it doesn't matter. I'm sure he is well aware of everything you said, but doesn't care, because he shoots however he wants regardless of what people think are correct or not correct.
@Marmocet
@Marmocet 3 жыл бұрын
@@UTxTheArchangel I'm not new to his videos. For arrows made of aluminium, fiberglass or carbon, it doesn't matter which way the cock feather is pointing because those shafts don't have a top or bottom and aren't more likely snap in one direction versus another during launch. With wood, it does matter for the reason I outlined. But hey, if taking a small precaution like keeping the cock feather on the outside when you shoot wooden arrows is more effort than you're willing to make to greatly reduce the risk of having wooden shards driven into/through your hand, then be my guest and shoot whatever way you want.

@@Marmocet you don't have to explain to me what I already know. Simply stating Armin doesn't care.
@Marmocet
@Marmocet 3 жыл бұрын
@@UTxTheArchangel He has said he doesn't care because he correctly notes that the arrow's flight isn't affected by the cock feather's orientation relative to the bow. He probably would care about having a lifted or separated wood grain driven through his hand though.

I bought that bow over a year ago after seeing a review here. Since I also bought some hankyus from Sarmat too I looked at the Varang like their uncivilised brutish cousin and did not used it. However as I rated it as my rough hunting and walking stick I later trained on it for a while and noticed that thru Armin's mentoring I did not hear the arrow slap at all anymore whilst at the beginning it was really loud as I use it shooting arrows on right side of grip resting on the bare wood of bow. Khatra with the Varang developed slowly as a side/down movement not comparable to the easy snappy send-off you get with the horse bow collection from Sarmat. It is an awesome indestructible reliable easy use bow though. And all these bows would be standing in a corner if it were not for Armins instructions of how to enjoy bare archery.

Well, even if it's not your favorite style of bow, another great review! As about the bow, a 2 inches lower BH combined with a heavier, but narrower handle and stiffer + longer fades plus FF string would have brought the bow to over 150 fps at 10 gpp I think.

How do you measure the draw weight on the stand? 28" it means 28" from the back of the bow or AMO standard 26"+1/4" from the belly (pivot point)? We weasure 28" from the back. I see the difference in draw weight between your measurements and ours. I'm trying to figure out if this is due to different draw lengths or due to temperature differences.
