This movie and song in particular made me dream about visiting US atleast once in my life time 🙂 nowadays movies are being shot across the world except US owing to huge expense involved right from Visa! But don't know how the legend named Shankar directed this movie completely in US including a world wonder song way back in 1998!! Visionary indeed for Indian cinema 🙂

That’s why Shankar’s movie were all ‘big’ budget ones back then as they were made on 25cr budgets.. also many songs were easily shot in European countries Swiss etc back in 98 only a handful were in the US- and it will stand out clearly in the movies!

Ageing women are at a particular disadvantage when it comes to relevance in the society and in cinema as well. Every woman is judged by her shelf life, really. This movie dedicated a very expensive production, location, song, lyrics and a storyline to incorporate the matriarch integrating her, making her relevant for the younger generation through the movie. She is seen exercising her freedom, and being encouraged by a younger bunch of people to call up Bill Clinton to say 'I love you'. This is something women of that era dared not to say. So yeah, it was kinda breaking the walls. At 2:48 it clearly establishes that the old woman was just as beautiful as the young woman in the painting behind her. Shankar is probably the only director ever who had a timeless perspective about how his meta narrative will be interpreted after generations. So much for a movie that was shot in the 90's to encapsulate that timeless narrative. No other director had as much a foresight.
