In Germany we were pagans like the Scandinavian countries before Christianity took away our old faith. Therefore Varg does not try to imitate Vikings but rather celebrates our pre-Christian religion and culture :)

Thanks so much for this! For some reason I lost track of this band after 2010. I loved their 2008 album "Schildfront" and even saw them live a few times back then, privilege of being German myself, but they dropped totally off my radar for some reason. Thanks for this reminder that they exist, even tho their style seems to have changed quite a bit over these 13+ years.
