Check out some of the KZbin vids on the decagon and read directions. You have to put enough fuel to make a puddle in the middle. I am getting pretty consistent boils of 5 to 5.5 min and if I don't fill it up at the beginning all the way I can get 20 to 25 min simmers

I think the key difference in your test and my test is not the level of fill (which actually isn't notably different) but that you're testing the stove in shorts and t-shirt weather and I'm testing it at just below 40 degrees on an Alaskan fall day. The reports I've heard from the others I know up here that have tested the stove are all pretty similar. It just doesn't crank out the heat like some of the other alcohol stoves we've tried. In other environments it may perform better, and when we're backpacking in Arizona over the next year or so we'll try it out again to see if that's not the case.

Granted you may get colder there but the filling does make a difference. Never thought it would but it does. I have tested @ 23 degrees and still been pretty close. You will also need a wind screen and pot cover. The only thing I have found different from other users is I can simmer.

Loved the one-piece, no-moving-parts aspect of this stove. HOWEVER, I was never able to get water to boil with mine. Fuel capacity isn't large enough for genuine outdoor use in cool weather.

I'd use it for frying spam singles ;) RUCAS for boiling :)

Why are you asking us what kind of stove it is?

ive got one of these and its absolute junk.a candle would be better .despite following makers instruction it just don't work takes forever in winter .bought a jet boil and that works .for a simple alcohol burner theres to much messing around just to get it to work very slowly .

Sorry but for me this was no boil. I tested the stove myself indoors and with a lid and it's like the manufacturer promisses. 5-6 minutes for 500 milliliters. I also tested it with the vargo hexagon as a windshield and in that case the alcohol burns away very fast so you have to replace it before anything cooks. So i assume when outdoors, when its cold and windy it could easily happen that you have to refill fuell even for 2 cups, which is unacceptable for me.
